Guys, it is currently raining in Birmingham and I need to walk 100 yards to the customer. I have a problem, my company have not issued me with an umbrella. What should I do?

The umbrella is the least of your worries. Don’t make one stepp till an full risk assessment has been carried out, a suitable umbrella has been procured, full safety checks done upon the umbrella and finally you need to be comprehensively trained on use of the umbrella. Only then can your h&s officer sign off your 100 yard journey.

 don’t forget the umbrella must have reflectors and a working beacon on top as Ive been fined 30 quid off vosa for this offence.

& you need your Torch, because of the low visibility in the wet !
Be seen, Be Safe. (Think of the Children !)

Has nobody thought of the traction issue here? He could slip and fall, I’d stay in the truck myself

Dammit, I’ve missed so much. Where is Rog when you need him, this is his speciality. I imagine he’s doing a safety check on his PC or photographing his wife in dangerous locations…

& what if he’s got a Hole in his boot ?
That will be the end of the day for me-Wet foot ! Think of the Infections you could catch !

GO TO POUNDLAND YOU TIGHT FISTED [zb]
You get get a 3 LED key ring torch for a quid. Buy 2 attach one to your car keys and one to your truck keys. It’s not rocket science.

Any driver worthy of the name ought to have at least one torch in their work bag surely.

I carry the above key ring torches, a headlight in my work bag and have a torch app on my phone.

YOYOY do people persist in not using their common bloody sense.

Would the OP like the boss to come and hold your hand just in case you slip ?

http://www.umbrellaheaven.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=42 Seen it all now , I wonder if they will stat using this at rdc’s when the driver has to take a 9 or 11 gr daily rest on thebay http://www.irwin.com/tools/marking-tools/hi-visibility-marking-chalk

I’d just quickly drop the trailer and bobtail the 100 yards in the unit…

When I did nights out I took along my old trusty 5 cell Maglite. Although it cost the Earth it served 3x purposes :

  1. You can actually see what you point one at in the dark.

  2. They’re “BRIGHT”, so “BRIGHT” you can possibly (temporarily) blind someone.

  3. They’re solid & heavy, so a good whack about the head with one can send the right message.

The old one cost me a fortune in batteries, but I cannot imagine ever wanting the job to pay for them.

Nowadays I’ve got an LED Maglite, still costs the Earth to buy, but much, much better battery life. Still wouldn’t like to be whacked on the head with one & still wouldn’t expect anyone to pay for it.

It belongs to me & I’ll use it as I see fit. I would hate to have to give it back, for whatever reason.

I’m sorry but all umbrellas are out as an H&S issue. Completely banned off site because someone got poked in the eye with a spoke end ;

I don’t think you should expect the boss to buy everything you need at work.

:open_mouth:

Wotsup, was I too polite ?

Cree torches are really good the more lumens the better. It’s like instant daylight. They would actually stop someone dead in their tracks too.
