Adelaide Insurance.

Harry Monk:
Just renewed on the phone with Adelaide, fully comprehensive, £250 excess, myself and my girlfriend as named drivers, 2.5 litre V6 Rover Sterling… £199.59 :sunglasses:

:open_mouth:

Just dont crash it then or you will owe them money

Just to add they won’t insure any van / pickup. Cars and bikes only.

They were bugging me about contents insurance but wouldn’t give a price. Too late now as they never phoned when they said they would and its renewed with another company.

That’ll explain why I couldn’t get an online quote from them for my van.

Yep, I argued that I only use my corsa van to take the dog out and about. Nothing but personal use etc. All thay said was sorry no commercials.

That’s standard though, most car insurance companies wouldn’t quote on a Ford Ranger I looked at buying (but decided against) because it’s classed as a commercial vehicle, only in the redneck states of the southern US are pick ups considered to be cars.

See what you are saying, just on the V5 it’s says car derived van.
Not like its a transit / sprinter etc

Not bothered as it doesn’t cost much to insure at all!

I’ve got to say that I would personally recommend Adelaide, this is what they say on their website,

Adelaide Insurance Services in partnership with the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists), the UK’s leading road safety charity have put together an outstanding package that recognises the high standard of driving skills that UK LGV/HGV/PCV drivers have acquired in passing rigorous driving tests therefore making them better CAR drivers. With these enhanced driving skills we see these drivers as less of an insurance risk on the road than your average car driver and as a result could save them some money on their personal car insurance!

Last year, Admiral, who I had been with many years wanted £522.58 and Adelaide quoted me £246.48, and that was a hell of a saving, this year they want less than £200.

Many companies seem to exploit customer loyalty rather than rewarding it.

i have just bought a renault kangoo and they are insuring that.

Years ago I was with More Than, I was reasonably happy with them as I had been severely shafted by Norwich Union (scum of the earth!!!) when I changed my Volvo V70 2.5D Classic for a lower powered and lower insurance group Mercedes C200 CDI Avantgarde SE. called them to change my details, No Problem Mr Walker that will be £160 please!!! For what I said its a lower insurance group?? OH eh…Its newer so it is higher risk (It was 4yrs old so not exactly worth £20k!!!) Well years later I trade in a 4yr old Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Titanium ( brilliant car ) for a brand spanking new £25k KIA Sportage KX3 2.0 CRD AWD and surprise surprise , my insurance dropped by £20!!! kinda blows More Than’s pathetic excuse away eh?? I insured with Adelaide this year, for me & my wife with £100 excess I paid £159.10 for my Sportage which I think was so cheap it was almost given to me,
Ps stay well clear of ONE CALL , my wife changed her Ford Fiesta for a Mazda MX5 and they wanted approx £75, of this £55 was an admin fee as they have ‘training & staff costs’ on a policy that had barely 2 months to run. I cancelled it and got her a new fully comp policy wae Tesco for £200 , best of it was they would have wanted another £55 when her private number plate went on to her car and their staff were cheeky pigs.

I’ve gone with them this year , the bloke logged into my gocompare account and had a play with the settings to see what prices he could get then he phoned me back about 10minz later and got me it cheaper, lower excess , more benefits etc , I just need to send them a copy of my NCB now
