Accident while at work

Anyone have any advice and what I should be doing
and what happens ect. Dont want to say to much on
a public forum as the company where it happened
have been sorting out there health and safety since
my accident happened.

Going from past experience make sure all details were recorded in the accident/incident book where this occured.Good luck.

I did not get to sign there accident book
as I had to get to hospital fast they snapped
an archery plus removed a limb and would
not give it me back as they said it would be no
good the hospital made them bring it but not
how the hospital wanted it and they made the
nurse retrieve it. I was quite lucky as the hospital
specialised in that area and put it back on but don’t know
if successful yet. I gave my statement to work and the hse
are looking in to it so far

get on to the CAB and also your union, if you have no
union try to get a good ACCIDENT lawyer,
some other members will be along and give their tips
as well ,later on.

:open_mouth:

Are you ok convoy?

Bare with me I only have 1 good hand luckly I am
right handed. So far I seem ok I have a tingly hand
a pain around my hart and the archery is not working
to the limb. he got the archery to pump blood for 10 minutes
but it was to damaged so its got to find its own blood supply
or be removed. its showing good signs but to early to tell as
yet. hopefully I will be able to drive again as I recently got a easy
good job.

The company sent me to the hospital in a taxi which got lost
on the way which my bosses was not pleased about and the
limb was brought in my dirty glove not iced in a bag like told
by the hospital.

Make sure you sign NOTHING until you get copies!!! and read EVERYTHING before you sign it but for ■■■■ sake DO NOT soign anything until you have a copy in front of you for yourself, some companie slike dhell will say yes you can have a copy after you sign it but take it away and you dont see it again.

just go get a lawyer m8 and pretty quick, dont matter how nice the company are being write EVERYTHING down and dont say ANYTHING about the incident to your employer UNLESS you lawyer is present. If the company offer compensation dont accept or you will lose out. Most important is to get well soon .Hope it goes well for you. it took me 2 years but i had all the info and alot of patience so be prepared for the long haul. dont forget to involve the union and their solicitor it may be free depends on your contributions

Take it this is a wind up.

If it is’nt don’t post anymore on here about your accident, and go and see a lawyer who deals in indusrial accidents.

sounds nasty mate :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
i wish you a speedy recovery.

Get well soon, hope it all turns out for the best in the end. You need to go to one of these companies with no win no fee, like you see on the tv. They are meant to be very good!!

Thanks for the best wishes and help its very much
appreciated. I haven’t signed anything yet but will make
sure I get a copy. I was wondering what those no win no
fee companies where like I wonder if you win what they take though.

Should I keep a sort of list of things like loss of earnings and
like travelling costs to hospital, solicitors ect as these things mount up

Yes, definately, with receipts where possible - a paper trail is everything in court.

sorry…did they

risk assess
Reported it to RIDDOR…you can do this any way
Report to HSE

Did you
get a witness
make a statement of fact for your eyes only.
Be Made aware of any health and safety policies for your area of work
A satisfactory induction
Consult a solicitor no win no fee

I’d echo that.

Although I wouldn’t be so keen to run off and see a solicitor. Their function commences when the ‘residual’ issues regarding the injury become apparent.

Try and ensure that someone, doesn’t matter who, confirms that an entry has been made in the Accident Register.

If you have any doubts on that score, report the incident to the Health & Safety Executive via their website.

My immediate question is, “Why did they bundle you off in a taxi when an ambulance would have been more appropriate?” I would be contacting the Taxi company and attempting to identify who received the call and what EXACTLY was said.

Perhaps I’m wrong, but from what you’ve told us so far, there seems to have been a reluctance to involve the Emergency Services.

Try and ensure that someone get contact details of any witnesses. It’s easy to say that Jim, Joe and Dave, were there but, when it comes to settling the claim, perhaps three or five years down the line, no-one can remember their full names.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

On a lighter note, whilst I wasn’t there at the time, a firm I sometimes work for had a driver ‘squashed’ between a trailer and a bay. He wasn’t badly hurt, just superficial injuries, but it was reported on the 9’s that he had been ‘crushed’.

The Air Ambo, flying in the area, heard the call and decided to land within the yard. Apparently, because of the downdraft from the rotors, bins were flying everywhere, bits of pallets where being projected in all directions, and the yard became a somewhat dangerous environment in which to be.

A salient tale about not letting debris build up within a working area.

I wish you a speedy recovery.
