Abnormal Loads

Got a long load to move next week.
Last time I had a second man and an ■■■■■■ vehicle but the boss reckons that we only need an ■■■■■■ vehicle as this is classed as a second man.
Does anyone know if this is right

If the trailer needs steered manually then you will as ■■■■■■ driver cant do both, unless of course you have remote steering

True…
but thats a matter of practicability…

STGO 2003 states that attendants can now be in an accompanying vehicle so the answer to the question is your boss is correct legally

for a ong load i,d find it more helpful to have someone in the cab than in a van sat behind me, never had the need for an ■■■■■■ van so not sure how the law stands there, just a thought though, so all the times i,ve had a police car/ motorbike behind me does that mean i could let the second man get out and go home cos surely thats the same as what your boss is implying

Thanks for that lads, I knew I’d get the confirmation on here.
