Aberdeen - WARNING

as im sure our more northern colleagues here will confirm, there has been a spate of vandalism around aberdeen lately. well it has taken a step higher up and now its getting serious

thats the corner of my truck in our raik road depot. note the top left hand corner of that trailer which belongs to shetland transport who use our site a lot
and from the side

that trailer was washed on our site and pulled out to the road for the night still hooked up. it was torched!
they reckon the culprits opened the back door and threw something like a petrol bomb inside. it was gutted although it was contained within the trailer which was lucky for the driver. im thinking maybe i should find alternative parking arrangements from now on where i can put a padlock on the trailer door and pull the unit a few feet forward of the trailer. for the sake of a few minutes coupling up in morning, they can have the trailer but the unit is my transport home and obviously i am in it so i dont particularly fancy having it burned around me

be careful out there :open_mouth:

disgraceful scanny if they came down harder on these yobs it might change there way of thinking

stay safe out there

ouch

dozens of cars been damaged by vndals latel in aberdeen

see here

and ere

That’s outrageous! :imp: Someone’s going to get killed! :open_mouth:

Thanks for posting it, Scanny. I hope all the Scottish boys and girls take extra care

Oh dear - guess where I`m off to tomorrow

Better get the kevlar vest on…

i hope they get caught - not by the police but by a greek trucker with a bread knife if you know what i mean :imp:

someone has been killed before. a few years ago a rigid was parked up for the night. someone set fire to pallets under it and the driver died. a 34 year old man was prosecuted for it if i remember correctly

oddly enough the aberdeen depot didnt think to let the bellshill depot know about this incident. i felt i should warn them about it when i got back and they had no idea that it had happened. you would think that they would want to look after their own equipment and staff but clearly the aberdeen staff dont see it as their problem since they only have one truck stationed there and the rest are bellshills responsibility :unamused:

at least the driver wasnt hurt on this occasion. that is something. the shetland transport lads are decent guys

Got back alive!

But heard on the radio that more cars were damaged last night!

north sound 1? thats who i listen to up here. i always stick to local radio.
i got a call out today for an asda run which meant parking up where that trailer was burnt out. luckily asda rejected my smelly trailer so i am parked up at the harbour in peterhead instead. padlock (my own) on the trailer and wheelbrace in the door pocket. im not going to make it easy for them. i emailled Brian Weatherley about this incident and posted it on the UKIP website. im going to use this as much as i can in my campaign for secure parking. no trucker should be parked up with a threat like that on their mind. all we are doing is earning an honest living

Jeezo Scanny! Be safe man. I would say ratchet your doors but you might need to make a quick exit! I often parked along from Scania in Altens

Did anyone read the newspaper articles■■? Seems as if

Ross Kemp

was accused and pled guilty to damaging to cars… Thought he was busy doing Eastenders? Doing documentaries in Aghan■■?

But in the other hand its sad that you cant park u without FEARING your life. Dont shetland park there units/trailers at the truckstop (That old tatty one) and I am sure its £40 to park in there?? Been a long time since up in Aberdeen.

Shetland do park their trailers at the truckstop, just as an aside the truckstop has been bought over and the parking has been all leveled out, sign up stating £6 to park now and the guy is installing security fencing, cctv and entry barriers, toilet and shower block has been done up as well.

No food or bugger all there though but there is a Shell garage and the Gordon Hotel round the corner

im trying to stay one step ahead mate. i was meant to park there last night but ended up in peterhead instead but i wasnt taking any chances

padlocked to prevent anything being chucked inside

i had that in the door pocket just in case. if they fancy trying it on that would smash a skull. if they are trying to do a runner in a car, it would go through a window. they arent messing around with my truck without a fight and i dont care about consequences. truck crime isnt taken seriously enough so there is no real deterrant. there will be if they happen to hit the truck i have the keys to though :imp: :imp: :imp:

Scanny, not being funny here but wtf is that padlock gonna do  They’ll have that off in seconds.( i’v got a better padlock on garden shed ffs ) Why don’t you un-hitch unit and park unit right up against the doors if you want to stop them getting into trl. At least you’ll hear any noise coming from rear of trl, then you can alert police who get paid to take care of these morons. Why would you want to be a wanna be hero against a mob in car’s,it ain’t your trl and i’m sure the company will have it insured. So when your lay in hospital possibly with serious injuries the company have claimed and got a new trl earning cash while your in pain.So let me make a wee suggestion here,do what you get paid to do and let the proper guy’s deal with the yobs. These yobs will slip up one day and will be caught, and yes i know the law is limited in what they can do in ways to punish them, but that ain’t your problem.

tbh the police are pretty useless when it involves truck crime. i for one would protect myself if somebody was trying to steal the truck i had (unless it was some beat up hump of junk then they can have it) im not gonna let some low life scum chav peice of {zb} think he can steal the truck ive been left in possesion of and if hes on his own i will happily smash his skull in and just leave him there, i know that seems harsh but think about it if he did the same to you, you would be left for dead aswell.

i had never intended a high security device but it would make it harder for them. it wouldnt be a simple case of opening the door and chucking something inside. if i wanted a half decent security device i would wire up a simple electrical loop using the batteries, probably hooked up to an alarm inside the cab. pretty basic stuff but it would be a pain to set up, especially if you wanted it to be effective which would require the breaking point to be the trailer door and the wiring hidden under the trailer body. door opens, loop breaks, alarm goes off!
insured it may be but that truck has been entrusted to me and no one is going to compromise my responsibilities without trouble. there is no way in hell i would surrender my truck to anyone. i dont expect anyone to agree with me (or even understand) on this one but that is who i am. its my duty to look after that truck and thats all there is to it in my eyes. if someone attacks my position i will defend it!

I never mentioned the truck,it’s the trl’s that these yob’s are targeting. It’s obvious that if some yob is smashing the unit up your natural reactions are to defend yourself. But if it’s the trl then i ain’t bothered about it,as that and the goods inside can be replaced. Can you  :unamused:
