A419 today,an accident involving a hgv,van and car, people were saying it was a fatal, personally I think they extracted the urine today, accident happened outside the entrance to thamesdown recycling, they had another unit there to recover the trailer, all they had to do [I could be wrong]is drag the damaged unit away hitch the other unit to the trailer and borrow thamesdown recyclings yard ,but no they chose to close one lane off and unload the trailer on the first lane of the A419,result was mayhem all day from around 04 30 when the accident apparently happened to around 16 30,twelve bloody hours,i had to drive on the A419 4 times today[Honda contract] so got stuck everytime, there may have been a good reason for doing it the way they did,but it seemed as usual the emergency services shutting down a busy route for longer than was necessary, the tailbacks were horrendous,if it was a fatal I can understand them having to investigate and I feel sorry for the dead person, but once the clear up started they could have done what I suggested earlier, rather than cause the problem they did
Selfish sods dying on the road, no consideration to the hard working truckers
What makes you think the unit was damaged . The wrecker had the truck lifted by 10.30 if you had seen what was left of the car you may have realised how insignificant your 4 poxy little trips to Honda was. they could easily have shut both lanes but they used some savvy and kept one open . I past it about 7 and it cost me 15 mins

Ffs…
how thamesdown recycle can keep an operating licence on such a dangerous access site is eye wobbling .
the central reservation access lane that crosses the glos bound traffic is pigging horrific . must be closed at once . anybody accessing the sight should only be allowed access from glos bound side , and egress in a glos bound direction .
anybody who has one of those vid cam things and wants some vids for crashtube should sit by entrance on a morning .

Really, because it sounds like you dont give a toss and only care about the fact you got stuck in a traffic jam. But we can live in hope that the dead persons family read this and issue you a public apology for holding you up during your day. Imagine grieving and trying to contemplate life without a loved one when there is the more serious issue of a lorry driver stuck in a queue eh? Some people
Maybe it could have cleared quicker, maybe it couldnt. Point is, you have no idea why it took so long or what they doing. But I doubt they purposfully left the road in gridlock just to see how long the queue would by.
This issue comes up on here regularly. Inevitably, the OP gets a backlash from the bleeding hearts brigade… “imagine if your loved one… blah, blah, blah.” But those sentiments are irrelevant here. The police do not close the road to help somebody grieve. There will be more practical considerations. The simple point being made is that minimising the delays and chaos on the roads could take a higher priority than it does now, and I agree totally. On the railways, they now aim to reopen the lines after 90 minutes max after a fatality which is a routine occurrence. Yesterday we also had the busiest section of motorway in the UK closed for the entire day (M6 near spaghetti) for a 2-vehicle incident in the early hours of the morning where one person died. You will never convince me that such a lockdown is justified.

IF IT WAS A FATAL I CAN UNDERSTAND THEM HAVING TO INVESTIGATE IT,AND I FEEL SORRY FOR THE DEAD PERSON,i think that’s what I said, fortunately it was not a fatal, the second unit was coupled up to the trailer so they could have pulled it into thamesdown to unload instead of closing one lane to do it,that is my point, they could have got the traffic moving a lot earlier, and as regards the unit involved they don’t normally hitch up to a recovery truck unless its damaged in some way, unless of course the recovery truck was sent just for the fun of it

nice to know you agree
to all the posts who slated me for my post,on the whole I guess you are right I was being selfish I should have thought more about the injured instead of worrying about the hold up,i was just annoyed on the day but my delivery times were still made,so maybe my post was an overreaction,if the moderators wish to delete then please do so

My point was that at the time you posted, you had heard it was fatal yet your only concern was being help up “four bloody times”. To the best of your knowledge, someone had died yet you were moaning about being stuck in a traffic jam.
I have no idea of the procedures that need to be done or why it takes them so long to clear up afterwards but I do know that if they rush it, evidence gets lost or cant be used in a court case. If they close one lane, let the traffic move while moving the trailer and a bit falls off for example and hits someone or their vehicle, we will get the “why did they allow us so close?” yelling. Damned if they do, damned if they dont.
But if im stuck in a car crash and trapped in my car, I dont want rushed out just because the road is closed and in needs to be reopened. I dont care if its closed all day. And if that makes me a member of the “bleeding heart brigade” well then I really dont give a ■■■■ about that either.
If it was fatal they would had closed the whole section off…
And yes I passed it when it was hooked onto the wrecker…
