I was driving on the A19 yesterday towards South Shields when I overtook another truck which I admit was a slow overtake as I was only maybe 1 or 2mph faster than the other truck, when I started my overtake the outside lane was clear but as soon as I pulled back into the inner lane a Peugeot pulled right in front of me & slowed down to 45 mph & kept there for a while & when I went to overtake the car it pulled away & drove off into the distance. He was obviously ■■■■■■ off because he was stuck behind me while I was overtaking but alas I could not do more than the 56mph I am governed too.
They soon get bored and [zb] off. Hourly paid for me, so they are simply getting me more dough.
Why did’nt you just knock it back to 52 or whatever…And chill out…Makes life alot easier…

Is that your way of bragging that you don’t work for Tesco or Asda ?
This happens a lot I wouldn’t get your knickers in a twist. Usually it’s not a form of malice usually the car driver is just in cuckoo land.
For example car overtakes you and pulls away into the distance then a mile or so down the road you catch it and need to overtake it. Then another half a mile or so it overtakes you again and again pulls away into the distance and yet again 1/2 mile down the road you come across it again. Thick as a plank of wood the carnage they are causing to the flow of traffic.
Think my record is 5 times I overtook the same car on the A77/M77 between Ayr and Newton Mearns. This was me only doing 52 aswell.
It could be another form of shaking head syndrome. Similar to when you overtake an elderly or just pious motorist who is dawdling along. People want to show their displeasure.
Best bet on dual carriageways, knock it back 2kmph on the limiter ie 87 kmph, then if/when you catch a Tosco/Argos/Nolans (other Driving Miss Daisy Companies are available) knock it up to max 89kmph & Fly Past.
Remember to hold on on though, because it might make your eyes vibrate & shake the Lorry to bits. [emoji6]
About 10 yrs ago on the A19 a car pulled in front of me and held me to about 40 (hadn’t held him up previously btw) bizzarely he started chucking candles out of the window at me every half mile or so (I know this sounds like the start of a joke but it is true
) and ■■■■ ed off after about 5 minutes…and 10 candles later.
I never ever found out what that was about, I rang the law with his number while he was actually doing it, thinking he was some nutter, but never heard anything back.
Give you a head start on the jokes, heard already from mates…yeh he was getting on my WICK, don’t know if he was a YANKEE… etc etc
Ah Rob it appears you where invited to a 3 sum.
Basically your supposed to flash in acceptance of said invite and follow to suitable area.
The use of candles also signals a spit roast is on the cards a la burning the candle at both ends.
Bit of a cryptic one used by posh totty.
Regarding the topic, it is rare but there are moments of stupidity where the driver of a small vehicle out of frustration for being held up by a killer truck will seek revenge in some way.
Now one must remember that holding a HGV licence is a privilege, easily revoked by the gorgeous Beverley Bell or one of her associates.
To diffuse the situation hang back or use an exit to go up and back on.
This takes great self control and is really only for the elite drivers amongst us.
Standard practice is to show frustration by joining in the game, this can lead to further dramas later on.
Changing ones driving style to below the limiter and relaxing can avoid this and also a simple hand wave in apology can also diffuse a potential situation.
Although a friend of the wife’s brothers cousin twice removed knows someone who for £50 will copy the cars reg plate onto his motor and drive through a few speed cameras. But I believe this is illegal so won’t mention it.
Good job it wasn’t
4 Candles Rob !
Might have smashed you screen.

And then the brain dead ■■■■ who was sat on the limiter and not prepared to aide your overtake by knocking back a couple of clicks for half a minute comes crawling past you again and you end up having to start the whole snail pass manoeuvre again

How? They’re only light no matter how many you have of them!
Candle in the wind?
Hey Rob, bet you thought it was your Birthday…
OMG see what I did there, I’m not just here for the ■■■■ you know.

HC Rule 168
Being overtaken. If a driver is trying to overtake you, maintain a steady course and speed, slowing down if necessary to let the vehicle pass
The onus is on the driver being overtaken to take action so that the overtake does not last longer than necessary

Doubt it, they wouldn’t have had enough candles. Boom Boom !
I’d have thrown my bloody birthday cake at you as well if I hadn’t eaten it!

Agreed the “onus” is on the driver being overtaken but what if said driver is an “■■■■”?
Oh god, I sound like Dipper_Dave now
