Good old Taffy Davis, RIP.
If he was still here, he could tell a merry tale, he had more experience over the water than any else from DLS, Chapmans, And A One, I bet he along with Johny Mack, Donald Jackson, including those still with us including Jack Tether, they all came to Chapmans with DLS. :-Jack. :imp:  :sunglasses:  :smiling_imp:

Am I getting mixed up but who was on the Whitehouse Road and also had a depot at South Mimms, thought it was A1 or could it have been AAA, remember collecting somewhere north of Halfiax for them and delivering to Lakeside.
The company I worked for then has now gone (T&R Haulage, Southend Airport).

a-one were on gelderd road (the A62) rather than Whitehall road (the A58) and had depots at south mimms, Bradford and Glasgow :sunglasses:

Hi “jj72” , regards A one, it wasn’t Whitehorse Road, it was Gelderd Road, Gildersome on the A62, they did have a depot at South Mimms, but in all they had 19 offices and depots all around the UK, some were just clearing houses, but many of the others we loaded from when in the area, this was in the 1974 to at least 1985 that I can remember, but I lost touch when I went over the water, and eventually some of them closed down, but the main ones were, Leeds, Glasgow, Middlesbrough, London, Newport, and all the rest were clearing houses. Regards:-Jack Graham   :astonished:  :sunglasses:

To Dry Ginger,:- hi Stuart, I’ll be getting in contact with you in a couple of weeks to sort out a reunion, at the moment I have a lot on, and my hands are not quite what they should be yet, I’ve still got the stitches in although they took the bandages off today and put plasters on, and I’m looking at moving up to North Yorkshire, got chance of a bungalow and dont want to miss it if I can help it, so I will be going up there this week to possibly make some arrangements to take the place on, and sort it out.
But regarding the reunion I am still in favour of doing it, and doing it as soon as possible, why the new lap top, have you got the bug or is your old one knackered, or do you just like spending money. Will catch up with you soon while you have a play with your new toy, Regards :-Jack

Eyup Jack, this photo was taken at TIP Potters Bar Branch in the 80s.I was interested in the Glass Glover 112 as I used to work for them, and then noticed the A1 FL in the background.Nowt sparkling I know but another one for the album.

Hi Chris, I was there for a while doing the shunter’s job but Sarah sent me home for the weekends so it wasn’t too bad, how’s tricks with you these days,:-Jack

Hi guy’s, can we have a count up of names so we can arrange a get together, we need to contact as many as we can, even the ones who dont know about this thread, so if possible can you all make as much noise as possible to them all, to let them know we all want another reunion, I know it may take a few weeks but the sooner we start the sooner we can get it together, and this is not just for the drivers, it’s for all who were at A One, in the garage, on the road, and even in the office, not forgetting Maureen our gorgeous receptionist, if anyone knows of her whereabouts. Thanks guy’s, :sunglasses:  :grimacing: :-Jack.

Thanks “Dreva”, if you have to, just kick them out of the pub, and tell them they dont have a choice, were having a reunion weather they like it or not the more the merrier, we’ve started the ball rolling now and it wont stop until we get them all together, I dont know if anyone knows how to find Russel Hutchinson, but like him or not he should be there, after all if it wasn’t for him there wouldn’t have been the same A One.
Even John Holroyd and Co- we need them all there, I’m going to let Cuddles know through Sandra, and he may be able to get in contact with some more, we all just have to try, it’s an opportunity we cannot miss. :-Jack :sunglasses:   :smiling_imp: :stuck_out_tongue:

hi Jack. Remember my old motors? That F88 was my love. Then the 1632 “FLYING MERC” what a motor!! :imp:  I remember when I was in YUGO, on the old HO CHI MIN trail and the cops couldn’t keep up with me!
Spoke to Norman (Marriot) this am and he said he would go to the reu, but his wife wouldn’t!!! Are we thinking of inviting all spouse, gays and leses etc■■?

My offer of the use of my club still stands, (if available) on the date we choose.
