Sorry i’ve trespassed onto your hallowed turf not being an Aoner, but a Mandator for an F86 i’d have snatched the keys off him and be gone before he could change his mind, i rated the F86 alongside the Scania 80 both “crap” and have been lumbered with both during a long and varied career, and i bet Chris Webb would have beaten me into the Mandator seat.

Well Harry each to their own, I will admit I did enjoy driving the mk5, both unit and 8 wheeler. The ergo and 2 pedal beavers I found cramped with their high engine covers, the V8 I took my hgv test in wasnt so bad across cab. But belive me those at m/bro where at the end of their life. I found the 86 had a heater that worked and more internal space for your kit. Add on heated mirrors and by Id built my fold down bed in no way would I give it up except for the new F7s that arrived.

YES I REMEMBER JACK ELLIS. I USED TO HAVE TO DELIVER HIS PAYPACKET TO HIS WIFE, IF HE WAS AWAY. THE OTHER NAME WAS RALPH GREER. THEY BOTH DID WORK FOR ACT WITH A 1 ALL THE TIME. HARD WORK, OPENING AND CLOSING THOSE 20FT CONTAINER DOORS!!! THEY BOTH HAD F7’S I HAD AN F86 THEN LATER ON F10 AND LATER THE FLYING MERC 1632. I do remember them coming home from time to time with the trailers on! Unfortunatly jack passed away a few yars ago. He used to go drinking at thornhill briggs club in Brighouse and would see him sometimes, Going in the truck with him made me want to be a driver!
I have steam coming out of my ears now, “my brain is working overtime”, Jack Ellis did work for Ken Mallinson when he had “DLS Europe Ltd”, but he died quite a few years ago.:-Jack !!

Sorry don’t know this guy just knew some of the drivers and even now can’t remeber the names unless someone jogs my memory. I knew Lockerbie truck drivers another sad time when the plane came down. All the call out fitters had to go to the yard check trailers they were picking up for a quick turnaround to ge tthe lads back home.
