Ian Scollic was Peter’s younger brother, yes he was a bit highly strung, I dont remember him saying anything about being in the paras, and I did run with him quite often, I dont remember Trevor Nussey saying anything about being in the paras also, but he was an ex police man from the Leeds force, He did tell me that he got a commendation for saving a woman’s life somewhere in Leeds, she had fallen in the river and he went in in the freezing water and dragged her out. the driver who was in the paras was Dave Smith, he was a great guy to run with, but he had to have new hip joints put in because of the damage done jumping out of the aircraft.

Was JMRs house across the road from Morleys cafe ?. I pulled into Gildersome and there was 3 Middlesbourgh motors parked there. Asked them what was happening they said nothing in the half hour they
d been there they’d just been ignored. I said follow me and off we went to Morleys for some breakfast. Im sure I saw JMR on a ride on mower as I pulled onto Morleys. Anyway we hadn
t been in the queue more than a couple of mins when JMR appeared. I dont pay you to stand about here says he, We were being ignored at the office so we have come for something to eat while we wait, says I, and If you go to the front and put in our order we
ll be out sooner. At that he walks to the front and tells the fellow behind the counter to give us each a breakfast to hurry us up and to send the bill across to him. As he left he told us not to take longer than was needed as the office was probably trying to contact him to tell him we`d vanished.

Yes I was thinking off Briggs cafe dont know where I got Morleys from.......there
s another brain cell gone.
.
Dont remember a 6 legger up there, when I transferred to M/bro they only had Mandator
s and a couple of Buffalos, I arrived with a F86 and Frank Craven( I think ) the manager told me to park it up and strip my gear as he had an old mandator for me. I told him JMR had said I was to keep my motor when I arrived there so walked passed him to his office and phoned Leeds and asked for Jack. Frank started ranting on about he was in charge there and not JMR, he decided who drove what and either do as told or be sacked. As he was telling me this JMR could hear it all, so I handed him the phone and told him Jack wanted a word with him and I
d be outside washing my motor when he was finished. When he came out he was quiet sheepish so we didn`t get off to a great start.
hiya,
Sorry i’ve trespassed onto your hallowed turf not being an Aoner, but a Mandator for an F86 i’d have snatched the keys off him and be gone before he could change his mind, i rated the F86 alongside the Scania 80 both “crap” and have been lumbered with both during a long and varied career, and i bet Chris Webb would have beaten me into the Mandator seat.
thanks harry long retired
I"m sure i have a photo of WUG 267S somewhere, this must have been one of the last Volvo F88s to enter service with A One.

Hi Mark, 262 and 263s were the last on the continent, now that you have put that reg its ringing bells,we had hand full of 88s went on contact for elida gibbs and was painted blue with a white stripe round the middle of the cab,if you find the phote as is painted red it must have been after the contract ended and was repainted.remember them having sort of blue wind deflectors on the side just above the headlights.
