“This is an urgent request”.
We are having a very slow response to attend our next reunion on the 1st October 2011, has everyone left the thread, or just lost interest recently, the time is getting closer to the date, things have been arranged, food has been ordered and the venue is booked, the landlady has given part of her holiday up to put the event on for us, Stuart Broughton has booked the Bold Privateer for the second time, “since that’s what everyone wanted”, so please please remind anyone we may have forgotten last time, and also remind yourselves, because we need to have at least as many as last time. Regards :-Jack Graham

Sorry Keith I dont remember anyone with that name, unless they came after 1995, may-be someone will remember him from after that date.
Regarding the reunion, I have contacted Frank Robson to ask him to let as many know as he can, but his reply was he didn’t know himself until I emailed him, so I guess there will be quite a few who dont know, Stuart Sugden also told me he didn’t have all his contact numbers since they disappeared when we left the venue last year, so I am struggling trying to make contact myself with most of the people who were there last year, Billy Parky has a different number from last year so I cant contact him unless someone else knows his whereabouts, I know Stuart Broughton is doing his best to let some of them know, so I am now relying on as many of you all to get the word out so we dont have a disaster of a reunion. :-Jack

remember the day i passed my class one,Paul day the tyre fitter asking to get him a trailer from the top car park, where the cinema is now at j 27 .picked it up em,lets take it down the m621 and back up,got on to m/way and was a right bang bloody door shot open, told Paul when i got back, did you not check it when you put the number plate on
did not put that ether.needed that learner stick again when you rest your foot on the clutch pedal and got a whacked
I remember the day I had to drop my coil trailer at Glasgow depot and pick up a t/liner for Newcastle. It only had a light load on but by I got to N/cle unit brakes were pretty hot. Pulled into M/bro depot and asked them to check brakes. When I got back from quick local job I was called over to the garage. Trailer was up on stands with wheels off and brakes stripped. Cant have been much lining left on the shoes says I. Fitter said " we don
t know what was on the shoes as there was none on". It seems the trailer was in Leeds garage stripped down when they needed space to get something done quick on another trailer. Theyd put the wheels back on and put it outside till this was done. Along came night trunk driver looking for an empty tr to take to Glasgow as there wasn
t a loaded one to take. To say I was unhappy would be putting it mildly.
Dave
Has everyone given up on A One site, I keep looking to see what’s going on with everyone, but it’s been the same for weeks, " NOTHING", dont tell me your all on holiday at the same time, remember it’s only 8 weeks to the next reunion, I have been trying to contact as many as I can, Tony Wood will be on holiday, but Singh will be there and he is trying to contact some of the guys who go to Hill Hire who have worked for A One.
I can only do my best, and remember Stuart Broughton has arranged the venue along with food etc, to cover at least 50 people, but if you have all lost interest please let me know before it’s too late. Best Regards :-Jack

Well Stuart, I’m a bit in the dark at the moment, I’ve called as many as I can and some numbers Stuart Sugden sent me, and there’s only a couple who cant be there because there on holiday on the date, but the ones I spoke to who will be there all said they are calling some they know who I didn’t have phone numbers for, Billy Parkinson is one problem because he must have changed his number, and I have no other way of contacting him, I’m just crossing my fingers that everyone else knows, but remember not everyone uses the computer, and being up in Bedale where I now live it’s not so easy seeing everyone, but I will do the best I can.
:- Jack
OK JACK WILL BE OK WITH ME HAVE JUST LET TAPPER KNOW

hi Stuart,sending you a pm with Ian’s number,Keith
Remember when i first started in 1976 there was a lot of trucks around with the old gold leaf writing on the doors, but when i started they had gone on to the yellow flying A stickers.only time i saw them doing the old sign writing was when the old atki got restored and was amazed watching the sign writers putting on the old gold leaf, all stickers now, never seen a truck come in our yard where i work now that had been sign written.keith
Sorry but I am unable to attend the reunion this year as I am looking after a pals smallholding in Dent while he and his wife go on holiday. Hope it is a great night for everyone, all the very best to all concerned.
