I spent literally years trying to find one Peter, even contacted John Holroyd but no luck - had I known you were going to Gaydon I’d have taken the model I made of it, with curtains
i have picture in a truckmag with an fl10 pulling it while it was filling up with diesel dont a full photo of it though
Has everyone gone on holiday from A one ex drivers gang, or have you all got fed up of the laptop.
I just hope everyone is getting the word around for the reunion on the 1st October 2011, it’s all arranged at the same place, same time and on a saturday, so you can all have Sunday to get over the headache.!!!

Hi Jack,as you can see above we have a new ex driver [greatbear]on the site ,he may tell us some stories if he comes back on.trying to work out who he is
To be honest Keith, I prefer people to use there names, I am also confused by the aliases they use, I also dont know most of them, but as long as they come to the reunion and fill the place I dont mind.
Have you started calling anyone yet, there must be lots of guys who dont know yet, because there hasn’t been many on the net as there were last time. :-Jack

he sounds like a continental lad if he earned 3 times more then a fitter, and has a rh text
I have just thought of a brilliant idea, when everyone arrives at the reunion, we can stamp everyone’s real name on there foreheads, this will stop any confusion for myself and Keith, and anyone who’s memory if fading, instead of trying to call them by there alias. .:-Jack.
good idea jack i think that now we all are geting older we don;t want to admit ower change of apearence ? but having said that iam one in a million that still looks as young as ever … ha ha …looking forward to reunion to see you all cos its going to be a great night
Keep hearing about Timed Deliveries never experienced them when I was on the road. Only time I was questioned about the time was when I was on contract to Hepworth and Grandage. Ihad a few drops around the Leicester area and at my last drop I was told to ring the foundry despatcher at Bradford. On contacting him he said they had a pick up for me and had spent ages trying to trace me. Next day at the foundry the despatcher { a really first class man who had been a Jap POW and despised them with a vengance. So much so when his wife bought a radio and he found it was made by the Japs he smashed it into a thousand pieces ] He asked where I had disappeared to for a couple of hours? Picking Blackberries for my mum I told him. Oh so you were picking blackberries were you he asked. He paused for a few seconds then said next time you pick some will, you pick some for my wife as well. A great man long since dead RIP Eddie.
At this time of the year when its warm and can not sleep at night how the hell did you sleep in the cabs, remember the continental lads having them small fans…k2

And all the time you all thought we had the best job, we were hard done by, none of that modern air-con stuff for us, we had it hard and earned our money the hard way, “didn’t we lads”. :- Jack

One of my teachers at school was an ex Jap prisoner, he had a hunch back because of his bad treatment and suffered every day right up untill he died, he was a brilliant person and I was proud to be taught by him :-Jack
Hi, all you Truckers. Well I finally did it. I set off with the wife on our Euro Tour (Busmans Holiday) to Hungary.
I have to report that the Truckstop at Saint Valentin in AUSTRIA has been removed and a big posh hotel put in its place.
The journey through SOPRON and on to BUDAPEST was a piece of ■■■■! SUZIE (my satnav) was fantastic. and took us to our hotel, right on the banks of the River Danube. The people were just as friendly and helpful and gorgeous looking as they were 30 years ago.I have to report that the HOTEL WEIN is still there, but has been closed by the police, as it was being used as a BROTHEL!!!
It was fantastic driving at around 120-130kph on the autobahns with all the truckers in the right hand side.!!! You didnt even have to stop at ANY borders at all, just slow down.
So, 2450 miles round trip, in 8 days. But that has got it out of my system. I shall NOT be doing it again!
DRY GINGER, (Stuart)
Looking forward to our next REUNION #2

Yes we did Kieth, Tapper Jack and myself did it in the middle of winter, he lost his windscreen in Yugo he was in his ERF
And could you get a screen for an ERF in Yugo, “they’d never heard of one never mind get a screen for one”, this could turn out to be a very long story, so much was involved including another couple of our drivers in Belgrade, and I had to go it alone from Zagreb where he had to wait for a screen to come from Austria.
It turned out to be a nightmare of a trip, I cant say what the Bulgies are like today, but I learned very soon not to trust them, and I know stories from friends who have had the same experience in recent years, but good luck and hope you have a good trip. :-Jack

I told you the Hotel Wien was closed because it was being used as Brothel, but I suppose you had to find out for yourself. :-Jack
