Going back in time a couple of people told me this story about JMR. Apparently if a driver got killed in an accident a few weeks after the funeral the big man would turn up at the widows house find out how much mortgage was owed on the property and pay off it off. Knowing Robbo I can well believe it of him.

Hi Guys.

I have been watching “Great British Railway Journeys” with Micael Portillo on BBC2 and he was talking about tunnels under the River Thames. This jolted my old grey memory cells.
I bet some of you “old” drivers remember “BLACKWALL TUNNEL” I well remember when we used to “Rope and Sheet” every load. We had to use that tunnel in order to get to the London Docks. The trouble was. If you met another truck on one of the bends under the river, you would quite often snap your ropes as you passed each other :frowning: :frowning:

Anyone remeber the fire at a wharehouse near our depot on the Isle of Dogs■■? I think the firemen let a few drivers into the warehouse to grab what they wanted before they condemned it. :smiling_imp:

I have some film of Woolwich Ferry Crossing and the breaking of ther B…DY FRENCH BLOCKADE in March 1980!!! When I can fathom it out, I will add it to the FORUM

Has anybody clicked on my “LINK” to see all the REUNION photo’s

Hi Ginger… certainly remember the fire, still have an amplifier from then. Dont know about the firemem but after theyd condemned everything, some of the lads squeezed along the quayside, broke through the wall and burrowed into the stacks that the fire and water hadn`t reached. :unamused: :unamused: …dave…

where are you all hiding

Hi All. Iv’e not been on for a while as i am having major problems trying to get onto the internet. I have a sky engineer coming out to check it all out tomorow, although it seems ok at the moment. Anyway thats the reason i have’nt been in touch with anybody, hopefully all will be ok after tomorow (fingers crossed). To Stuart Sugden i tried to look at your reunion photo’s but i couldnt get them up. you should be able to see the photo’s i took at the reunion if you go onto my profile. REF the next reunion, i would be quite happy to go back to the Bold Privateer. But i will also be happy to go with the majority when it’s decided. To Keith 2, if you see Ian ask him to put the photo’s on that he took when he came with me to Hungary, he may have forgotten. Thats all for now folks so you all take and i will catch you all later. (Alan) :grimacing:

Hi Alan.Sorry you couldn’t bring up my photo’s. I was assured by my “genious” IT lad next door, that all anyone looking at the TruckNet forum would be able to see the pics. All they needed to do was single click or double click on the “link” and there they all would be!! :unamused: I have done it myself, several times, and had no prob’s. I am still trying to work out how to put my short film on the forum. Maybe later. If you do manage to get them up, you should see pics of ITALY HUNGARY, (Hotel Wein) FRANCE,YUGO, GERMANY,and all places south!!.Off to Dubai soon to see my Granddaughter get married there. Bye for now.
Stuart Sugden.

Hi Keith. The last time i heard anything about Eddie Franks and his wife June, was that they had sold the B&B and went to live in a static caravan. I don’t know where the caravan site was, exept that it was in the Blackpool area. I was also told that he was confined to a wheelchair, due to a bad back. I could never confirm any of this, so don’t take it as fact. The guest house they owned was called (Glen Eagles) and was on Regent road Blackpool, if you want to do some research. As for the yank,i only knew him as Bow. i never heard anybody call him any other name, exept the usual drivers insults which i can’t put on here. Thats it Keith hope it helps, and don’t forget it may not be true. All for now Keith so take care and i will catch you later. all the best. (Alan) :grimacing:
