Hi Keith. Your right,i did bring the wagon back from Italy. But before i could do that i had to make arrangments for Arthurs coffin to be flown home, i also had the unenviable job of identyfing the body. None of these arrangments could have been made without a great deal of help from the British Consul in Trieste. Also,in a one’s favour they never questioned the cost which was quite high. Regards. Hi guys, sorry I’ve not been on for a few weeks, I’m still waiting for some more ideas for our next venue, Stuart Broughton has put his idea in, but were still waiting for more.
Next weekend I’m going to my racing club annual trophy presentation and dinner dance at the Briar Court Restaurant and hotel just off the M62 at Ainley Top on the opposite side of the M62 from Elland, it’s a good place with a room that takes up to 100 people with a sit down meal if that’s what you want, I’m taking into account that we all take our wives or girlfriends, and do the job right so they can have a natter and get to know one another, I will get some prices for the room also prices for the hotel so we dont have to rush home, and also get a breakfast on the Sunday morning when were all sober before we go home.
There is plenty of parking space, the food is good, and the rooms are good.
It may not be the Budapest, Belgrade, Bucharest, or even Zagreb we spoke about, but it is central to most of us, and also I’ve been going there for the past 23 years so it cant be so bad, so watch this space for when I come back with some prices sorted out, and we can go from there, remember we must book as soon as we can, so sort out your holidays and we can hopefully find a date when were all home together.
Remember this is only my idea, and it’s up to you all to come up with yours so we can throw them all in the pot, and fix one to suit us all. Regards :-Jack.

You might want to have another proper look this year. It holds 150 with a lovely ballroom and it will be free for me to hire The steward would put on a tipical “truckers spread” or anything else and very cheaply. there is also a small hotel not to far away who I know isn’t expensive.
Something else to consider
I am off to Dubai tomorrow for 4 days. Will be back on line next week.

Well thanks lads for the couple of replies and ideas!, this is just what I needed some response and ideas, Stuart still has his local club which I saw from the outside last year, and if it is capable of holding even more than the 100 I suggested then that could be one to look into along with any more, My main concern is accommodation, because we dont want anyone going home behind the wheel and getting caught with a belly full of booze, “but I know were too grown up to know that anyway”,and that’s why I put my idea forward, because after parking your transport when arriving, you wont need to drive it again untill your ready for home on the Sunday morning, “problem solved”.
Stuart also said he’d spoke to Alan Bennet on “Skype”, he also called me today on skype which is a good way of making contact and see them at the same time, so he’s waiting for me to reply after next weekend with some prices and we can go from there, “remember it’s only my idea”, and I’m sure many of you have ideas of your own, we aim to please as many of you as we can, we didn’t do bad last time, and I’m sure we can do better next time, Stuarts idea is a good one as long as we can get enough accommodation for all who want to stay overnight. Just returned from DUBAI where I watched my Granddaughter get married on the beach there
My God,what a place that is!!! £6 (approx) to fill up a 4/5/6/7/ litre 4x4. NO PURCHACE TAX. FREE Schooling, FREE Hospital care, 7 lane roads (each way) straight through Dubai city centre. EVERYONE drives at the legal speed of 120kms.
Anyway, back to the reunion. I will check out my club with the steward regarding dates. I assume we would like it to be sometime during the summer months?
Well guys, after my weekend at the Briar Court, Huddersfield, I have some news regarding our next reunion, I doubt it would be suitable to hold it there, since they have started doing weddings there almost all the Saturday evenings are booked up for most of the year, although I could get a few date’s for Friday evenings I dont think it would be any good since many of you are still working and even Sat mornings will be out of the question, because being involved in the transport industry as we all know it is part of the working week for us.
So thanks for the info from Stuart Sugden about his local club, and providing we can get enough bed & breakfast’s for as many as we will want, I think it will be a better option, and now seeing Stuarts back from one of his jaunts to see his grand daughter get married in Dubi, I think it would be a good idea to make a date to suit us all and book the room which will take more than we might need, we also need to decide if we want a sit down meal, buffe, or what ever, and if we want a disco.
So come on and let us know when, “between your holidays” when you want to meet up again, and remember it includes family members also, “wives / girlfriends”, so please spread the word to all those who dont use a computer, namely Billy Parky and others, get all the numbers and get calling, remember the sooner we start and get a booking the better.

I went to my club last Saturday and spoke to the steward regarding our proposed “A ONE REUNION #2” Here are the results:
Fuction room can accomodate up to 140 people.
Cost to hire the function room £90. (Bar Staff Wages)
Buffet meal. No problem, cost depending on what we would like him to do. Or Knife and Fork meal at tables. (extra charge)
Disco music can be provided or "bring your own!!
There is a very nice hotel, “The Lane Head Hotel” at Brighouse. (check on web) It is a cvouple of miles away, and they charge approx
£34 for B/B.
There is a very large car park. So you can line up all your trucks, nice and neat!! (But, no spinning round)
Numbers( roughly) and a Date is all that is required.

My sentiments also; I went to a coupla reunions with the lads & they were great. next ones they brought the WAGS & the whole thing had changed from Routiers/Congarezzo to Ladies Night Getting Slightly Tipsy. But they have shot their bolt now because they can’t have a Drivers Only meet because the ladies have taken over. I am not too worried or angry but its shame ,thats all. If they did one WAGS & one divers I would be up for it. Don’t get me wrong, they are very nice people but the job is bandjaxed.
