It’s refreshing to hear somebody who is happy in their job. Good luck and I’m glad it’s all working out for you.

Yep this thread is like a breath of fresh air, reminds me of my early days.

Like a new born whos seeing things for the first time Johnny is reminding us of our first days.

As the years go by I hope we keep track of JTF, s adventures.
Keep em coming.

There are a few motors like mine, mine just happens to have been working in wales and around the south coast last and now this week! Currently parked near red Ruth, 12 hours sleep after a 15 hour day. Happy days

So its the last day, starting from cullomoton services, 04:45 start to get to Paignton for about 6 for my first and last delivery for the week. Easy enough, I stupidly thought it would be a good idea to leave the window slightly open as it was rather warm in the cab :laughing: To say it was like an ice cube when I woke up was an understatement but at least I woke up instantly near enough :grimacing:

]

I get to Paignton same time as I did last time for around 05:45 although this time staff were there ready to help get me tipped!! Happy days…or so I thought :smiling_imp: I start getting myself tipped, when a few pallets decide thanks to ■■■■ stacking and even ■■■■■■■ wrapping it would decide to make a swift exit off the tail lift :laughing: Joys of store deliveries!! One pallet having washing powder on the pallet needless to say the boxes they out the powder in don’t take impact well…although we all admitted the shop smelt much fresher :laughing:

I eventually get tipped after 2 rogue pallets And reloaded with equally annoying stacked pallets! As both times I’ve tipped here its a pain to get pallets back at on! I eventually get gone for about 07:35, meaning a good chance to get home!

]

I set off back, giving the office at Bristol a ring to check if anything is to go, I get told no get your self back.giving a ring to the Burnley depot about a couple hours away. I stop in a Gloucester services for my first break, where I get a few bits for my folks and bro as it was quite a proud thing that last day a quite productive week! Nothing too major wrong. Got everyone a bottle of something and my mum a little something extra as its been a while since shes had time to herself since we’ve been.away :slight_smile:

]

I set back off on my way some money less later on getting through the traffic which surprisingly the M6 was ‘ok’ surprisngly I called in at keele services for fuel as we only carry shell fuel cards, so its a case of far and few between. But needs must, and how slow the pumps were! Felt like forever until the truck was filled up and ready to go!

Nothing more to report other than the start and stop traffic on the 62/60! Assuming its general I want to get home its Friday syndrome, not the likes of me ready to do another 5 days of it :sunglasses: as this driving lark doesn’t feel like work. Just sat here watching the road go along! I get as far as birch services on my 4 and a half well, I usually go for about 4 hours then look to park for 45, if its a long drive like todays!

]

]
I get along my way after my 45, gladly the traffic got a little better :slight_smile: I get back into the yard in good time in just over an hours drive! Which through bradfords rush hour and the leaving work traffic I thought weren’t too bad. As I get parked up, just the thought of content and happiness that I finished the week was enough to put a smile on ones usually stone faced git :sunglasses:

A career I’ve spent years wishing itd hurry up and now I’m 'living the dream ’ I can only hope the feeling of content stays. I’d like to thank everyone who stayed along the journey and hope it wernt too boring!!

Until the next diary, stay safe and see you down the road :sunglasses:

]

Right now though, ill enjoy the effects of the goblin!

A beer well earned I hope!

Cheers

Well done Jonny. I honestly do admire your enthusiasm. When you’ve been doing any job for a while the novelty kind of fades and sometimes it’s nice to get a bit of perspective back by looking at the job through a fresh set of eyes. Lets face it, there are far worse ways of earning a crust.

Good man johnny keep the foot to the floor with the big ten four :wink:

Good on ya jtf

jonnytruckfest:
I’m 'living the dream ’

:laughing: We’ll see if you’re still saying that in 1-2 years when the novelty has worn off.

Left hand down!:

Nearly 2 years down the line of driving CE I am still enjoying it ok sometimes moan a little but on the whole still enjoying it ( even after being in transport 20 yr )

Cheers folks,

LHD I couldn’t tell you if I’ll still be ‘living the dream’ in a year or two’s time but right this very moment I’m loving every bit of what I get out of the job. Seeing the country, a step closer to gaining my c&e license if I’m not revealing too much on that :sunglasses: and not even two days into my second week being asked if id consider going full time. Id like to think I’m doing well at my job :slight_smile: Plus as a third gen in the family to do the job I’m also the youngest to ever get started :sunglasses:

The only time in transport I can truely say I didn’t like was working in the transport office at RB even though I learned a lot and can see where my present and past traffic planners have gone wrong, the stress and the money or lack of it (18k for a job the likes of stobarts/dentressangle are paying upto 9k extra for!)just wasn’t worth it and my health from working nights wasn’t doing too well.

Since starting driving, strangely I’ve managed to lose weight, I see my friends more as I get my weekends back and the job itself is a steady number imho! I’ve a few goals I’ve set in life which I hope to achieve a couple of those I’m still a way off yet. But doing this job helps me get to them goals so whilst it still serves a purpose I’m happy :slight_smile:!

&& the maoster this is by far one of the more pleasant jobs ive had to earn money. Going from a warehouse ‘apprenticeship’ where I was on £4.75 an hour to agency work earning just above NMW to then working away in the traffic office at RB. I’m earning more money now than I have done previous, and when you’ve come from having nowt you tend to appreciate it more. Granted everyone would love a little more £££ but whilst I’m earning enough to pay the bills and put a little away each week I’m happy :slight_smile:

Cheers
