A week with the JTF express

Radar19:
Don’t feel bad Johnny. This is what I did to a Stobarts not long after passing.

You kept this a secret radar,10/10 for effort buddy

Why is it that all the drivers that have hit stuff have this fantasy that every driver must have done the same…

Are you saying then that you 100% , hand on heart can say you’ve never hit or knocked anything since he day you passed? Hmmm

There is a difference between knocking something or ‘having a scrape’ like Johnny and causing costly damage. Every driver I reckon has done the former at some point, not so much the latter.

Good read though Johnny. Shocking reading someone be enthusiastic :open_mouth:

It’s not always a disaster either: I one did a screw round in a very tight yard behind some shops in Brum for Blakes. When I got lined up for the gate I saw that I had taken down about 8 feet of wooden fence with the overhang. I was just walking up the garden when a guy came out and I expected a load of aggro.

Instead he said not to worry, it was rotten anyway and the council wer going to replace it later in the week. He even helped me tidy up before I left. Never mentioned it to Blake’s though:)

jTF - It’s always interesting to see what others get up to day to day, even if it’s not exciting.

once worked for a fella who reversed into a factory entrance …except he missed the entrance completely and backed into an allotment . apparently there was a good craic ont cb

Cheers everyone, ill be honest I was expecting a good grilling from the tn csi gang  But see they haven’t got here yet. :grimacing: I’ll be honest this is my second ever accident first one well, I shouldn’t have been anywhere near my car let alone a truck, part of the reason I’m now back at Mcdowells but least said the better! I’ll be posting the diary in a little while, not many pictures again and the signal at Collumpton services is shocking so will see how we get on! But I’ll promise to have a few extra pictures for the last day

Love having a 15 & a 10 left for my last day :sunglasses: makes that beer earned a little bit more! Big driving day tomorrow, reloaded for Paignton in the morning! Either back to Burnley for a reload or back to the yard and drop this into the garage :sunglasses:

Happy days :sunglasses:

Cheers

Jonny :sunglasses:

You do really well to get back to Burnley tomorrow Friday? (M6 traffic)
Don’t worry about your prang that’s why we pay insurance you’ll know where to look next time all a learning curve your not the first to hit it!
Enjoyed the diarys keep them coming intresting job to more exotic places than I get to!
How come you ended up back at mcdowells■■?
Do tell…

The CSI are busy working on more important investigations at the moment.

Your case has been referred to the Newbies That Can’t Go A Week Without Breaking Something Department.

As one of your case officers JTF I can confirm the investigation has commenced.

I shall be looking at your previous post history to see if similar moments of muppetry have occured and if you suffer from excessive cab happyness.

Also your conduct in general will be scrutinised to see how your react to general banter, as this points to your ability to drive a large vehicle long term. Emotional responses will not be tolerated as to become one of the true class 1 elite it is neccesary to have the ability to remove emotion from situations and react in a different way than most would in times of intense drama, e.g. a BMW driver not using his indicators should not produce a coffee bean shake.

Those of us who where 1st in the embassy (I came up through the sink on the third floor) will understand this.

So young padawan I require you to go 1 week without hitting stuff (or coming into contact with, as you put it).

More tasks will be set over the coming weeks including a super tricky blindside rigid reverse.

Course entertaining diaries will go in your favour so keep em coming.

You have to accept that in this overcrowded Island of ours there will be "contact"now and again.Keep them minor ,few and far between and no reasonable person will mind too much.Be positive and think of all of the things that you missed.

Picking up where we left off, starting this morning at 04:45 from Bristol for the long journey down across to Cardigan! Starting the day with the most important drink of all…

I will say cartons are a handy thing to have when your down the road (or even on day work!) as you aren’t faffing with bottles and just pop in the rubbish bag once done! Always usually find them on offer whether its Ribena, calypso or go the whole Hogg and get the 15 carton boxes for a quid for what youd give to a little kid!

I get my checks done, having a little walk round to stretch the legs and get some fresh air in the lungs well I say fresh, a strong smell of bread from the hovis bread plant over the road is as fresh as it gets  But still enough to wake this yorkshireman up

I sort my paperwork and get on my way, the ride down perhaps one of the best ones! No traffic, window down, music going well bbc 2…cant beat a bit of feltz on a morning :open_mouth: So maybe not the best of best runs  But I get there early this time and in better time than Tuesday at just over 3 hours this time as opposed to the near 4 & 1/2 hours! I also know what was meant regarding the co-op! :imp: Some twonk had his car parked infront of the shop meaning I had to get roundish, back up and keep going round…not exactly what you need when you’ve already gave one building a bit of a love tap with the wagon :smiling_imp: But I get round no problem, I wish I could get a picture of how narrow the roads are! Have to see it to believe it!

I get tipped off eventually, having my 45 minute break after to just soak up the sights…in this time, two people parked their vans infront of me and a few others had blocked me in! All fun and games this driving lark :sunglasses:

I must add the pictures were taken after most had ■■■■■■ off, apparently you get the camera out or point your phone at them they shift :grimacing:

I get on the road back to base, for my reload at this moment in time unknown to me! I call into Swansea bay first to get a drop of diesel for the road ahead, first rule of thumb never let the tank drop below half or at most between half and a quarter. At least that works for me

Got to say the girl behind the desk at this filling station has to be one of the best of the fuel stations I’ve been to, hand your card in, fill up, go back in give her the mileage everything else’s done for you. :sunglasses: The nice face and surprisingly the accent was quite refreshing too!

I get back for around half 2, where i was met with, we ain’t tipping the returns just 12 for Paignton tomorrow! Sound job :grimacing: Nice easy tip off and I get to have a look at the seaside when I make my way back :sunglasses: Makes my job so much more worth while. As I’ve said previous, the sights of the country come rain or snow there are some spectacular views whether its countryside, seaside or a city centre (if your looking in the right bits  ) and I get paid to see all of it, definitely living the dream in that respect :sunglasses:

Anyway, I get loaded and start my 45 min break where I get told after 37 minutes to move, I ask to wait but to no avail! So pull out of the premises and park along the road to have half an hour. Quite annoyed as I wanted to be away but I often get told im paid by the hour…sadly I prefer getting the job done  as waiting about does my head in. So away I go which leads me to where I am now, battling a little bit of traffic on the way down where it gets a little bit hairy as I want to save my last 15 for tomorrow! I get in and parked 5 minutes shy of my 13 hour spread so happy with that one!

So in total so far this week I’ve done just shy of 55 hours with a potential 15, with a fun Friday in the mix! Where as last week I barely scraped 60 hours! Now many will see that as weird but to put it as simple as possible, like everyone bills to pay and with my dad just slowly getting back into work me and my older brother have stepped in to take the strain of the parents bills too. Also next month, I will be raising money towards st leonards hospice in York where my god dad spent his final weeks in. Taking at least 10 hours overtime a week from my hard earned putting it away for the hospice. I did a similar thing a couple of years ago at clipper although this time I wont be killing myself to achieve it  Plus I’m on a little more than the £6.80 overtime I was on on the apprenticeship :sunglasses:

I don’t say it often but right now I’m a happy Yorkshireman where I do see a little light at the end of the tunnel. And I hope this will be me settled in the job for a good few years. We’ll see.

Till tomorrow folks, keep safe out there

Cheers

P.s apologies for the late Update signal has been crap all over and now currently on a 45 at Gloucester services. Last update of the week, nothing else has been hit as of yet and fair to say has been a good day so far. Also I’m in next week, same motor, same contract. Happy days :sunglasses:

Awww bless still on honeymoon :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

To be fair it don’t look a bad little job that,I miss the runs down to the south west

Ribena.

good posting and good to see someone enjoying the job.

just looking at some of the scenery makes me miss driving for a living.

Sadly, you won’t be very popular with your fellow drivers if you carve the job up.

Glad your chosen path has worked out for you

And the man who never made a mistake never made anything!

It’s refreshing to hear somebody who is happy in their job. Good luck and I’m glad it’s all working out for you.
