Taken fro the head cam of a cyclist, this bus driver needs taking off the road
Yeah he was quite a way back weren’t he, who knows what he was doing/thinking.
Another sad case of ‘George Orwell 1984’ omnipresent surveillance.
My first thought was ■■■■■■■ hell.
Then I replayed it and whilst the bus should have stopped, check out what the lights are doing when the attendant steps out into the road!! She’s not paying attention and is talking to the cyclist and starts stepping out on amber without checking the traffic.
Another case of three wrongs don’t make a right .
So there they are imho.
- bus didn’t stop.
- cyclist distracted attendant by asking if she was alright.
- Said attendant steps out early and without looking.
Fully agree that bus had more than enough time to stop, but:
Was bus driver being distracted by school kids on bus, this is very easily done in my experience. Realised too late lights were changing?
Why has cyclist turned round to go after bus? You got it caught on cam, so if that bothered just go to Police. Why risk getting involved with another road user?
I dont see much drama here,no one appears to be stunned. The cyclist just wants to make a name for himself.
Funny how this modern trend for trial by cycle helmet always shows Lorry, Bus, Van, Car driver at fault. Never seen one showing other cyclists misbehaving or ignoring the rules of the road.
Bus totally in wrong yes but he obviously knew he was in wrong by sounding his horn. Maybe he didn’t want to slam on the brakes for the person that was getting off the bus. Aye poor judgement, poor driving etc no excuses are really good enough for what he did.
But then you have cyclist ■■■■■■ with his ■■■■■■ helmet. Thats what makes my blood boil then has the cheek to chase after him. I would have paid my life savings to see the bus driver get out and ram his helmet up his arse.
The mirrors headline was a bit ott

Why do helmet cams bother folks on here so much?
It’s not, like no trucker has ever posted footage from idiot road users from a dash cam on this forum is it?
Yet none of you are bothered by them.
I’m a london bus driver.
IMO, the bus driver is in the wrong.
We are taught to come off the gas when approaching a green light and prepare for them to change.
First buses are fitted with a system called greenroad. It monitors your driving, including harsh braking, maybe the driver was worried about setting it off.

I can honestly say in 4 years of having a roadhawk i have uploaded ■■■■ all to youtube, its caught some amazing sights btw. Its only ever be used once to prove my innocence in a crash. Maybe im too lazy to upload or maybe i just dont give a jot if harry cut up sally cause ive forgot about it 2 seconds later.
But these helmet cams everything gets put online even nothing incidents and they also include registrations, the sad bastarts probably send emails of compliant with a link aswell. This could possibly result in someone losing their job over a nothing event if their company is as dolly as mine for instance.
People wonder why id love a plain white lorry, i’ll tell you why so i could do whatever i bloody well please without it going on the internet. Leave policing to the police no cyclists, enough cameras without these ■■■■ bastarts aswell.

As someone who cycles as well, I can understand the helmet camera stuff and am tempted to get one myself. 99 / 100 road users are considerate and understand the need to share space. There are however idiot cyclists, idiot bus drivers, idiot car drivers, the odd idiot truck driver and even white van driver.
I think motorcyclists, truck and bus drivers are generally better than the average driver in both consideration and skills not least because of the additional training they have had.
However as a cyclist you only need the 1 in 100 idiot other road user who has a grudge against cyclists to put you in a vulnerable position. My guess is about every 3 - 4 weeks or so, when cycling into London a van or car driver for no reason other than they don’t like cyclists deliberately cuts me up and drives as close as they can. I try as much as possible to ignore and just carry on. However, if they misjudge, they end up with a slight car scratch and I end up on the floor, or in a hedge - which has happened.
I am not sayinng that all cyclists are good, or bad. They are the same sad mix of people types as the rest of drivers. THey are vulnerable thoguh. Having a helmet camera makes those ‘i didn’t see you mate’ situations a lot easier when people change their story and it is your word against theirs.
Dashboard cams and helemts cams are good things in my book.
You might not post anything caught on camera but there are plenty that do. Just have a spell on YouTube and you can find film of anything you want. Its just another side of today’s way of doing things by people from all walks of life that, to me, have nothing better to do. It seems to be that people nowadays have to tell & show you every detail of their lives to make them relevant. Seeing how many people have watched their pointless 30 second vids puffs them up and makes them feel important.
As for the incident the bus driver got away with it this time, it could have been a lot worse, I’m sure he knows that and doesn’t do it again. Move on, nothing to see here.

You’re twisting it.
Not many, if not any truck driver confronts other road users after they have had a disagreement or altercation, where as the majority of cyclists with a head cam confront and goad other road users to try and get something incriminating on their head cam.
Like this geezer here, chasing after a bus for Christ sake. What did he think he was going to do, is he the police?
What authority has he got?
Fair enough he’s got the bus driver bang to rights, leave it at that.
But no, he was after confrontation and an explanation which is nothing to do with him.

Actually amber means stop just the same as red and it makes no difference what the stupid crossing patrol did.In that case the driver was going too fast on the approach to stop on amber and even for the hazard situation on green.Yet more evidence of zb bus driver training, examination standards and recruitment policies.

[zb].
You never seen that 4 page thread only last month of the truck driver launching a volley of punches into that VW Golf driver?
Good job there wasn’t another bus behind the ■■■■ when he pulled that u-turn without looking behind him…

Indeed Amber does mean stop, but it’s not a green light for people to walk out with out looking. If she had been paying attention she wouldn’t have got half as far as she did after being distracted by the cyclist in the first place.
I’ll still stick by my three wrongs don’t make a right, and in the order I have put them in.

If the bus had hit a pedestrian there I’d bet that the difference between amber and green would have been the difference between a causing death by careless/dangerous driving charge or not regardless of the person in question stepping out on amber and not bothering to look in just the same way as if it had been red.
