A Shell garage from an unusual angle... Solved by L. Wolf

At the risk of being shot down, I’ll say that I think this one might be a bit tricky. ( :open_mouth: Until Lonewolf sees it that is… :frowning: )

Here’s a nice piccy of a Shell garage that’s on an “A” road.

To win a skyhook AND brand new bubble for your spirit-level, can you guess:

Q1. Which town ■■
Q2. Which “A” road ■■ (The street name or the “A” road number.)

:frowning: Oh dear, those pesky trees seem to be stopping you from seeing a big clue… Sorry about that chaps… (Honest.  )

Im guessing but would say A666 Blackburn?

Hi grahamA, sorry mate, both are incorrect. :frowning:

It does look like it though…

Hi ROG, Sorry but it’s not there either mate. :frowning:

Please Sir, can we have a bitsy clue?

Hi Malc,

Here are your clues:

#1 The trees in front of the garage are on a roundabout
#2 There is a river nearby

I hope that helps (but not very much. :grimacing:)

Plymouth

penistone ■■? (just in case the autocensor cuts that - pen ist one) ?

Hmmm this is an interesting one.

The photo screams West Yorkshire/Lancashire Pennine area (the stone on the house on the right), but is narrowed down significantly because you give away that we are in a town (removing Leeds, Bradford and Manchester and lots of small places from the equation), and its on an A road. I immediately thought Colne, but the garage there isn’t on a roundabout. It also looks very much like Burnley, but you ruled that out. Clitheroe was another thought cos of the hill in the distance.

There aren’t that many places with steep terraces like that facing a hill like the one in the pic so as a first guess I’m going for Clitheroe without much conviction.

Is it an Ax, Axx or Axxx?

A664 Rochdale, possibly looking over Kingsway, or Queensway.

Hi Lonewolf Yorks, You have yourself to thank for that mate.
That’s cos you usually get the answer to my ‘where was I’ at the first attempt, so I had to come up with something that would be suitable for your talents.

I can’t fault your logic mate…

Sorry mate, but it isn’t Clitheroe.
You’re correct about how steep the terrace is, cos walking up the street to my appointment reminded me of the Hovis advert.

Hmm, that’s a fair question but… that info would probably give it away too soon for me to score a hat-trick with ROG :grimacing:

I’ll give you another clue… the roundabout forms a junction of two “A” roads.
