Hi all,yes it is joe 90.just found the thread,(ETR 370 L)
Went back to Medstead last year to show Jim our black F89(EAA 455 S) which we tow a boat arround with.Being Jim he wasn’t very moved, just said "don’t they look dated now"but he did climb up into the cab and went through the gears with a smile!
IS Olio still in Greece?
Is John Phillips(alias Faulkner)still about ?
(we worked for Squibby together before I went glory hunting with Iran Container Co)(See thread “my first continental job” by my mate Andy)
I will get my kids to show me how to put a picture on this unless someone can explain it really simply?
After a period with Armstrongs I stopped driving until we bought the 89 so haven’t ever driven anything more modern.
Who else is out there from the F 86/88 days?

Joe

Hi Joe,

The jury is out on Olio being in Greece, Charlie One reckons he is back here and working for Sainsbury’s again but no one has seen him.

Curly1968 this is John Dvies aka Buzzer here and that motor in the first pic is an F89 we owned VNG 359S and i remember John your dad and the other feller in the pic definitely reminds me of some one who worked for us,we called him Tony 2 real name Tony Winter from Emsworth,by the way he was tony 2 because at the time Tony Mapson was also driving for us and this was to stop confusion between the two. I suspect Mappo could confirm if im’e right about that fact. Not sure if we still owned that motor when pictured or if i had sold it on.
Cheers Buzzer.

I also remember your Dad Curly, as i,m sure all of the old Soton lads that contribute to these forums do. Nice bloke was John.
You,re correct in what you said about Tony 2 Buzzer.
I would say that when that photo was taken it definitely wasn,t still owned by you…it looks a bit tired
and worn out in the pic, paint flaking off the cab and light bar, stickers on the bumper. You wouldn,t have allowed that to happen.
That bit of Novara No.plate on the grill…wasn,t that on the Joker at one time Gazza ■■?

Hi buzzer and mappo the 89 vng pics were taken when my dad owned her, the pic with the fridge on was taken when he gave me my first driveing lesson in her i was 17 an just passed car test lol… Im 44 now lol.

Curly now you have a clearer picture i can see why Tony Winter is in the pic cos you can just see the M,J on the headboard of the globetrotter next to VNG ,we used to have have M.J & G.R DAVIES on our headboards and i suspect that truck was RMU 970Y which if my memory serves me well John Heaton (ocean clipper) ended up buying from us,cheers Buzzer

Jeez Mappo, fancy remembering that NO (Novara) plate was on the front of The Joker! I replaced it with a Roma one and must have given it to you. I remember having grief from a Guardia di Finanza in Ventimiglia for having it there.

RMU with a Solstor fridge.

ASR30F was the fridge but when I used it on its first trip was only a 2 axle. Now sporting a “Fergie” third axle conversion.

Really good old pics curly1968. I expect tony2 was doing a bit of cab hopping then as RMU was clueys motor from start to finish until it was bought by Axle. Buzzer has my album at home with a pic of tony 2 some where. will get him to put it on.
