Exterminate Exterminate
I was petrified of these as a nipper and hid behind the sofa.

You weren’t alone in that

The Cybermen as well and any monster thing that came out of a swamp
was also petrifying as the BBC special effects department did a dam good job in scaring little kids.

That cliche is a bit tedious.
Did ANYBODY actually hide behind their sofa in reality.?

You obviously haven’t met the mother in law then.

Hand on heart, yes, I have a picture in my head of me doing that. I was only about 4 at the time though

A question that has been bothering me Sploom, did Noah take the Unicorns or did he leave them behind?

Also, he must have had more than one deck so that the Lions, Hyenas, Crocodiles, etc were separated from their main food source.

I reckon he did his best to breed the omnivores to feed the carnivores, but one day the Unicorns strayed from their deck down to the Lions, and Hey Presto, no more Unicorns.

I wonder how many other species Noah lost that way??
Most, if not all of the Bibles are very quiet on that subject.

Don’t be silly Whispering,Unicorns are, like dragons, mythical & ficticious creatures.Unlike the Bible which is the words of God.

I genuinely did as a kid

Showing my age here, the Hammer house of horror films were petrifying for a little kid to watch and Tales of the unexpected was just as bad.

I tell you a good film to watch if you like that sort of thing,Vault of Horror. Its on youtube. It stars Tom Baker.

That’s a good recommendation.

As was The Outer Limits and The Twilight Zone. I clearly remember in the early 60s sneakily sitting on the stairs watching those, because the adults had left the living room door open with their backs to the door. Scary, even on a 20" black and white telly

TOTU is regulary on TV now, still an enjoyable watch

The 70s classic series, “Thriller” by Brian Clemens is still a fun view, there’s quite a few on Youtube

RR , have you seen Wolf Creek , that serial killer who sabotaged tourists vehicles in the Australian outback sent shivers down my spine.

You cannot make people believe they stand to lose something they don’t believe they had to start with.

You could even argue that the concept of the “Immortal Soul” is a religion in itself.

One thing more scientific though - if your unique DNA is ever destroyed utterly, then you ain’t ever coming back for the remaining history of the Universe- right?

So… For those of you who don’t intend having offspring at some point in your lives - better not let yourselves get cremated eh?

…OR do people actually WANT to go to “nothingness” at death?

Much of the Bible was written down by people that were not there to witness what was actually being written about.

I prefer to stick to the first five books of both the Old and New testement, and the last few books of prophecy in both new and old testement as well.

The middle bits - are more about the History of the Jewish nation, their politics, their hopes and dreams, falls and follies…
Notice that the unbelievers like to spout bits from this “History” as being the “contradictory” bits.

Who’s to say that in their day - the Bible itself got rather re-written by “Fakesters”?
The final page of the bible makes it quite clear what happens to such “re-writers” however.
Meanwhile, one could observe that these people have had rather a lot of stick over the centuries, in the same way that some Oriental believers connect to “Bad Karma” being behind coming back as “Disabled” in this life as punishment for something they did in a previous life…?

LANGUAGE or lack of understanding of… Pays a HUGE part in the knowledge of everthing to do with God’s universe.
There’s no point saying “I don’t believe it” as you wouldn’t consider jumping off a cliff to prove your non-belief in Newton’s theory of Gravity now - would you?
Gravity - a force that is everywhere in the Universe (Omnipresent) can destroy everything in the Universe over time (Omnipotent) but cannot be seen, heard, smelled, or tasted…

Newton - didn’t really have THAT Much trouble proving that Gravity existed - did he?

Just to get the Fundamentalist ‘Nut Job’ thread away from doing a CF on other threads:-

> Sploom:
> One of the things that happened to me before I converted to Christian fundamentalism was how much I was preoccupied with what people thought of me.Everything I did and said seemed to be subject to the approval of others and you can be in this state without even realising it.Its like a virus that operates in the background without being visable but you cant see it until you step back and view it from outside the box(i hate that expression) but once you arrive at the place where, people dont have to like you,its a great undoing of the chains that were holding you there without you realising.
> Now,dont get me wrong,I dont try and make enemies but I soon realised that ,yes, those that had power over me before,of course, they dont like it when they realise its gone

You have proved the point we have been making, your lot thrives like viruses on targeting vulnerable people, without which their Churches would be empty.

Winseer,I was being sarcastic with my answer,to show how ludicrous it is.The belief in a book about mythical being that is as real as mythical beasts.Unfortunately we are now seeing the results here in Sweden when a government which,'‘supposedly’'is dedicated to free speech & thought is confronted by brainwashed masses who also cling to the beliefs of a ‘fantasy’book about mythical people. These, like ISIS & the Taliban want to live in a world of the 7th century, but with all the benefits of the 21st.No wonder they are easily confused. When I lived in Afghanistan long ago I watched the Taliban blowing up piles of TV’s to destroy the evil ‘djinns’’ within & pulling the tapes out of 8track cassets so the sun would burn the 'devils’on the films. This while talking on telephones & shooting modern firearms & driving 4 x4 pickups. No irony there.

Talking of empty churches…(whisperingsmith post)
I reckon within next 10 years churches will be totally empty. (I’m referring to normal mainstream churches, not those of the fanatical nutjob variety).

Kids do not go to Sunday School anymore for one, Sunday is now football day for most young kids playing in local schoolboy (and girl) leagues…as my kids did.
When I was a kid,.I used to stay with my grandparents,.the village church was just around the corner,. the bells used to wake me on a Sun morning, I would look out of the bedroom window to see all the village people (not singing YMCA btw  ) all dressed up.heading for church,.then same again at the evening service.
That church is virtually closed down today, and the large one in my old home town I went to as a kid, is virtually empty on a Sunday I am told, and half of it has been converted to the church hall for functions.

People,.those who are actual ‘believers’ , are different these days,.and have too much going on in their lives ,.and I would go as far as to say (imo) that atheism is in the majority in terms of Christianity.

It’s a pity members of …more radical religions shall we say,.did not follow suit, it would be a much calmer,.safer and more civilised world. :bulb:

Yes,churches are becoming empty but this was predicted in the book of Mathew.
age?”

4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and
