i’ll take the open roads and the non-speed limiter, but you can keep the truck! Im sure you got a daf steering wheel in there, thats one good thing about it i suppose.

i noticed that too mate, paccar group?
im a bit the same as kindle, as good as they look i think i would prefer to stick to me daf, although i would loveto have a drive in one at least once just to see if they are as bad as im constantly told
Believe it or not but that empty road was just north of Chicago at 10am & yes it’s nice not having a limiter, although some states have silly 55mph limits most of them allow at least 60, some as much as 75, as you can see the roads are a lot quieter so it’s safe to do those speeds, you can cover a lot of ground in a day too, which is good as we get paid by the mile over here.
So you like my steering wheel too? I think you’d like the room I have in that sleeper box too, it makes them Dafs of yours seem small by comparison.
The new MX Daf engine is available in Peterbilts & Kenworths next year, all part of the Paccar connection, hope they go as fast .
Hey Newmercman, that is a smart truck alright. A little newer and higher spec than mine. Welcome to reefer work. You will be running to many of the same places as me. By coincidence i moved from BF too. How long were you there for? You will certainly find winter easier. The only down side of reefer work i find is the waiting around for reloads. Sometimes for a day or more if your in the southern US especially. Still better than tarping a Behlen load,…Eh?
I was only at BFS for 5 months, I got a bit disillusioned with having to refuse short haul work so that I could get my miles in, that & the fact that I was running mainly Canada when they told me I’d be in Texas more than Manitoba,
Anyway it’s history now, no bad feelings, yet anyway! You’re dead right about Behlen loads, last one I did needed 4 tarps & every bungee I had!
As for my Pete, yeah it’s got all the bling & a big lump too, a Detroit, I think it’s a 525, may even be a 550, it goes well that’s for sure, nearly as comfy as the Volvo too which I wasn’t expecting, I’ve also managed to aquire all the chrome for the dash, it looks the nuts now!
Haven’t had much waiting around for reloads yet, it’ll happen I’m sure but so far so good, I did sit in Regina all day today though, tipping half a load of garage doors, tipping the other half tomorrow in Saskatoon but they’re going to start me at 6am so I’ll go back to bed for a few hours, tough old life eh!
I’ll do another diary of my next trip, a bit more detailed than the last for all you Newmercman fans! BTW I’m thinking of changing my handle to the Cockney Redneck, what d’ya reckon?
Thats right lads make me feel sic, if I had my time again I would be over there in a shot, instead i am slowly going bankrupt in this s88t hole called the UK
mark - im glad you seen the light, i also was messed about by them n tarpin in the winter was no fun. im not afraid too call bfs a bunch of goons thought with plenty of bad feeling.
