"A mate, you look like a nob!"

You said polarising lenses improves vision did you not?
And I’m asking you a question that’s all.
So if I start wearing glasses with polarising lenses my vision will be improved will it?

I did and if you’d have bothered to read before writing you’d see I answered that.

As for your vision? No, probably not as we know you consider yourself perfect in every way. But for us mere mortals they do help, esp with cutting down haze. Go and try some polarising glasses. Make sure they are polarising though as most aren’t. If I had a polarising filter for my camera I’d post before and after shots to show you

Another plus is that crumpet can’t see you perving on them so easily.

And if they are mirrored not only do you look even cooler, but you can turn your head in a different direction to your eyes and have a bloody good ogle without even your wife noticing

Couldn’t be like it myself :sunglasses: :sunglasses: much.

At my age i would need more than a pair of sunglasses to look in any way '‘cool’

Drive on a wet road into/facing a low/setting sun, then put your polarising sunglasses on.
You can’t fail to notice the difference.
Personally, I use sunglasses whenever I drive so by the end of the day my face isn’t all screwed up from trying to avoid the suns glare.
If I’m passenger, I’ll still wear the glasses so I can sleep, and passers by won’t notice (apart from the drool)

get caught using a tinted visor on your helmet,in gloomy conditions, and theres every chance youll get nicked.

I’m beginning to wonder if The Real John and Farnborough Boy are one and the same. I’ve got about 48 years of driving experience and have worn shades for most of that time because whether it’s bright sunshine or overcast and full of glare, polaroids really help. Another plus is that crumpet can’t see you perving on them so easily.

That’s a strange assumption
How did you come to that conclusion?

Not an assumption or conclusion… just wondering, seeing as how you seem to be agreeing with him. I was told by an opthalmic surgeon to keep wearing sunnies to slow down the cataract I had coming in my left eye, after he’d taken one out of my right eye. Eyesight’s much too precious to [zb] around with or worry about whether or not some daft bar steward thinks you look like a nob, prat or anything else.

First of all, I’m not agreeing with the OP one single bit, what’s it got to do with me if someone chooses to wear sunglasses. I’m just saying if people on here physically need to wear them to stop head aches and migraines then they should get their eyes tested and wear some proper prescription glasses and not sunglasses.

That’s the most ridiculous statement I’ve read on here in ages, so even if I did agree with the OP that automatically makes him me with a different user name does it

They make my eyes ache, so i dont wear them, i have got a pair of £80 shades, so its nothing to do with just wearing cheap ones. I do a lot of squinting when its sunny, (it doesnt make my eyes ache)
I used to drive to Greece regular for a year, i doubt i wore shades more than half a dozen times in that job.

My sunglasses are prescription which came as a second pair when I got my normal glasses from the opticians.

Misunderstanding the issue there. My vision is actually 20:20 yet in bright but overcast conditions I sometimes get headaches without sunglasses. Just because it doesn’t happen to you doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen to others. You just need to be a little more open to others opinions and a bit less reactionary as this one shows

FarnboroughBoy11:
Those of you that wear sunglasses in any weather (apart from sun) shouldn’t be on the road in my opinion if wearing sunglasses “helps” reduce head aches and “helps” reduce the strain on your eyes.
Get off the road or get your eyes tested.
The clue is in the name isn’t if? SUNglasses.

Surprised you didn’t mention wiping out someones family…

When have I said I consider myself perfect in every way
Can you ever have a disagreement or discussion with someone without slipping in a sly comment?

And I am fascinated that everyone seems to think that if I wear some of these glasses my vision will be improved so yes I am going to try these.

I take your point, maybe I do.
But what is the reason you and others get headaches when not wearing them?? That’s the point I’m trying to make, as if the reason was diagnosed then maybe you could treat the problem so you don’t have to wear them?

Thereal-john:
Havin me break on pops, no signs of the sun the sky looking pretty bleak, and this fella pulls along side me with sun glasses on, and before you say it no they r not prescription.

I’m guessing it must make him feel like a real trucker(smoky and the bandit era) but really it made him look a proper nob.

So why do it?

I wear yellow lensed glasses all the time when i`m driving during the day.Superb in fog and snow, excellent in rain and help with fatigue.

If you could solve migraines and headaches you’d be a millionaire overnight. Still not a well understood issue. I’ve been getting headaches since I was a teenager, its just one of those things. All it needs is a tiny trigger and thats it, headache for the day. So i do what i can to lessen the chances of that. Just because i sometimes wear light tinted polarising sunglasses doesn’t make me unfit fir the road a you previously suggested. Read that post again and you’ll see why you got peoples backs up.

Yep, it was a bit of a hasty comment.
But I’m just struggling to see how wearing sunglasses when it’s already dark and grey actually helps people’s vision, as you say it helps peoples headaches but arn’t you sacrificing a lot of natural light by wearing shades thus actually reducing vision?
As commonrail said, if a biker is wearing a tinted visor in overcast conditions or dusk then he will probably get pulled.

Luke, no ones vision is 20:20 anymore! :open_mouth: the optometrists have reverted back to 6:6 as in metres! :unamused: polarised glasses are the MUTZ nutz! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: alot of you are dehydrated, hence your HEADACHES! :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

I wear prescription glasses, they have reactolite ‘built-in’, they also have a coating reccomended for night driving, which works rather well. I have to pick up a point with the OP, and say that even in quite overcast conditions, the reactolite kicks -in, so there must be something to be protected from UV wise?

Ah ok to be fair it was a few years since my last eye test.

Dehydration is a big cause of a lot of headaches but not all.

6 of us got pulled over for speeding through snake pass ( we were in traffic, cars in front of us and a van behind us, we never overtook anyone and were well under the limit) he didn’t get us with his camera because the cars were blocking it :unamused: He said we were all getting tickets for having tinted visors amongst other things, he wrote the the first ticket then had to go to a call on his radio as there had been an accident, glad I didn’t go first :grimacing:
