Those of you that wear sunglasses in any weather (apart from sun) shouldn’t be on the road in my opinion if wearing sunglasses “helps” reduce head aches and “helps” reduce the strain on your eyes.
Get off the road or get your eyes tested.
The clue is in the name isn’t if? SUNglasses.
Actually I get migranes and not all of them are headaches
As it happens my sunglasses didnt cost me a penny - got them free when I got my normal glasses…
i use to have a pair of those night time driving glasses that had the yellow lens, they were brilliant never got blinded by the knob coming towards you when they forgot to dip
A guy I know failed his driving assessment when he went for a job as coach driver because he didn’t have his sun glasses with him…back to the buses he went!

I don’t know why your getting uptight on us that don sunglasses to be safe but I aint gonna stand for it, I believe that they’re better than the naked eye when in grey conditions, so what’s the fuss about. Don’t you worry about a thing us professionals know what we’re doing, if you still have a problem I’m sure we can work it out.
I was told three years ago by an optician that I had a cataract forming on my left eye.I was then asked if I wore sunglasses,I said no I don’t like them. The optician said " please wear then in future as they will stop the cataract getting worse " I went for another eye test this year and my cataract hadn’t deteriorated at all,so I wear the sunglasses. Don’t like wearing them, but if an expert tells you to wear them,do it.We take eyesight and other things for granted. Its to late when you lose it.
I wear Ray Ban aviators (the small ones without the doggy bone thing) whenever there is glare. You only get one pair of eyes,so protect them if you need to.If you want proper USAF ‘Top gun’ ones, get some from Randolph Engineering

“Sun” isn’t any kind of weather, it’s a source of heat and light. Even when the cloud cover is 100%, light from the sun is still getting through by the bucketload (if it wasn’t, you wouldn’t be able to see your own hand in front of your face, let alone the road). If there is visible light getting through, then the invisible stuff is also getting through - thinking UV here, and it makes sense to protect your eyes from that.

No, it was with quite a small company.
To be fair, it operated those touring coaches where the driver sits low and there’s a massive panoramic windscreen above him so the passengers have a clear view to the front. For the driver it’s like sitting in a greenhouse, and it would be a nightmare if you were driving into low sun.

Someone wearing £180 sunglasses has to be a bigger knob than someone wearing none, or a £3.99 set.
mine are from Selfridges in the Trafford centre! we get paid a decent wage up here! southern, shandy swilling cockney!
Jeez… You have to be from the east end within the sound of Bow Bells to be a cockney. I don’t even come from, or live in London. The last shandy I had was Top Deck back at Butlins Clacton in the 70’s as well. Darn Sarth the only thing that has £180 spent on it is me as an agency driver for the day too.

You’d really need a peaked cap too.
I assumed this was a wind up about coach drivers always wearing them.

It doesn’t warrant wearing sunglasses.
UV rays make up roughly 10% of sunlight and most short wave UV is blocked by oxygen anyway, and about 98% of all UV waves is blocked by the ozone layer so rendering wearing sunglasses when overcast pointless.
And most people on here slag drivers when they have their curtains pulled across their windows but they themselves then wear sunglasses when it’s dark and grey

I know that it’s an ‘in’ joke that they do…but, seriously, it was this company’s policy
