What’s happening with the world when you no longer see “tip trophies” proudly displayed on the grilles of dustcarts, skip lorries etc?
You used to see mutilated Barbie dolls, horseshoes and even ■■■■■■ tied under “DENNIS” for the public to look at as the bins were emptied. Now, all you see is your carefully sorted plastic and cardboard blowing along the street and ending up in someones’ garden. I tell you, this country’s ■■■■ ked.
Seen a dust cart in the week with a sorry looking teddy bear on the grill because my granddaughter who is 2 pointed at it, never seen a ■■■■■ though 
because they are all now professionals and thinking of the children.

When I was at London Waste I had a 4 foot Christmas tree stuck in the huge towing bar at the front of the Foden. Yes I used to drive a Foden. I was driving up the tip one day thinking I need some tinsel and when I got to the tip there was a box right my by door full of it. So I had a fully decorated Christmas tree stuck to to front. Ahhhh good times! Wish I’d taken a picture. The landfill gods where looking after me that day.

And yes I hate them as a result, them and their asthmatic CAT engines and awful gearboxes. Give them one thing though, they were 03’s on really tough work and they’ve only just replaced them, tough old buggers.

Nowt wrong with a CAT engine pulling wise if they’re mainained properly; a bit noisy perhaps, they’d ■■■■ all over a Daf but yes the gearboxes weren’t modernised when the Alpha cab came out.
Ah but there’s a lot wrong when you compare them to a proper engine, like a Scania…

Dad had a Scania R440 on demo and said it was hopeless in comparisson to his 02 reg 450 Cat. For long haul a Scania is better but their day cabs are crap…
