Yes the Pickfords program was a joke , the two guys trying to carry a wardrobe down the stairs , i was screaming at the telly for them to turn it up side down and try again , it would fall down the stairs "which it did " , bet Jeffk would have put his name down for being on the telly !!! hey Jeff ?
Bet they dont mention what i heard they have done to the oxford depot,
i remember a few years ago when the sheffield depot closed down they moved twenty miles up the m 1 they kept two vans in sheffield so the drivers could get to the new depot, they cant expect men from oxford to travel to enfield every day
I agree about the Pickfords programme BUT I felt it was more realistic than Stobarts. It showed the true bones of the job and whilst there were moments which had me screaming at the screen, in some respects it was nice that they were not edited out and gave a true reflection. It shows there are good and bad removalmen in every company!!!
It also helped to show the public the problems that we come up against on a daily basis. Obviously, Jakey and I could have done a much more proffesional show but we can’t all be perfect Ain’t that right Steve
James if only we could show it all ! , we stared in a moving program a few years ago (we still have the video some where) and the director fell out with my brother because she said he was making it look to easy and he should make the job look hard , he said no because at thev time he had 30 years in the game and he said other people watching the program who be going mad at the screen "saying he was putting it on " .By brother said never again .
Its a balancing act isn’t it, you have to weigh up the publicity against how it makes you look to any competitors watching! There is nothing worse than making it look hard when everyone in the industry knows it isn’t!
Had to work last saturday , unloading some bathroom items for a client in to store and collecting a container for the following week . My lads is 14 now so he is a great cheap porter , i must admit he is great worker and is keen to learn the trade .
Had this truck in today delivering two new kitchens for my oxford client , the factory was on shut down for a few weeks ,now they have four wagon and drags on the uk work to catch up .
Had one client go pop on me over xmas ,lucky for me his payments were up to date, the ■■■■ mangeress has started up now and we now how a new client (sort off) ,this is storing of bathroom items and delivering to local address when the customer wants them delivered .Removals are a bit thin off the ground but lots of quotes being sent out for Feb, prices are low though
NO James ,leicht from germany will also deliver Stoneham and zeico kitchens for my client , I saw your two small wagons in Brill , i was doing a removal in the same village on the same day but could not stop on the hill .

Oh that job was a nightmare!!!
Building work should have been finished 2 weeks prior to delivery however do you think it did? NO, the guys were walking through 4 inches of mud, over holes in the ground into a house full of decorators etc!..oh, and into a house of white carpets, oh how they laughed I’ve had a good day today, just booked 3500 full pack to store for a minimum 2 years. I like those jobs
James that store job sounds great , I could do with a few of them , also why do the jobs were there is a building site still have white carpets and expect you to take your boots off , that drives me mad. I told a client the other day to sort her muddy drive out before we start .
