The Govt has a good SPIN on this to convince voters that those on benefits are getting more than those working but the truth is that it is private landlords who are getting most of the money - stating that would not get more votes !!Build enough social rentable housing and the problem is solved especially single residences so those caught by the bedroom tax have somewhere to downsize to
I watched a very clever and sensible young man on the BBC 24 hour news channel spell out the real situation yesterday in a 5 minute interview = very informative and true
Berate the private landlords and not the people who are claiming housing benefits to pay them for a roof over their heads or the Govt for not building enough social residences I say
If there were more jobs than people available to do them then I would have no sympathy for anyone out of work - solution is either to make more jobs (not going to happen) or reduce the number of people (close the gates) which they choose not to do
More jobs than people = higher wages, more tax paid in and less benefits paid out
Well, I am a private landlord. In the last year I have had to pay out for a new fridge, wasp nest removal, damage repair including paying for a door wrongly broken down by the police, waste removal, boiler repair, new carpets, replacement door locks and keys, redecoration and loss of rent due to moonlight flitters. This is just a few of the outgoings, not including mortgage payments, insurance and gas safety certificates.
Last month I made a profit of £11.65. And before anyone says that the property will increase in value, it is now worth £20,000 less than I bought it for. Yes, my bad judgement, my fault, and my problem - but many private landlords are in the same boat - we are not all property tycoons!

Oh, one more thing, this Govt states it has created loads of jobs in the private sector but what it fails to mention is that most of those jobs were transferred from the public sector - local authority run schools switching to being academies are a prime example.
Total tosh. Academies are still funded from the public ■■■■■, and all the jobs of people working in them are still in the public sector. All that has changed is that the control of what goes on in the schools has been taken away from local authorities. They get their money direct from the Education Funding Agency and they choose how to spend it (rather than having local politicians make the choices for them).

Couple on TV this morning, 6 kids last worked 2005 getting £26000 in benefits. A working man would have to earn at least £35000 gross to take that amount home but they get it to stay at home breeding. Before anyone says most of that will be to pay there rent they live in a one bedroom flat but want a four bedroom house which will mean more rent so more benefits to pay it. People like that should have there kids taken from them as they cannot look after them so cannot be good parents or only be able to claim for one child.
Total tosh. With six kids, a working man would get £4500 p.a. in Child Benefit (unless he was earning a lot more than £35k). Depending on circumstances, with six kids he would be entitled to tax credits - maybe £10k. With a dependent family of that size he would probably also be entitled to Housing Benefit - could be anything from a couple of thousand to £5k or more p.a.

Aah, they’ll be random symptoms of ultra-liberalism and diversity as beloved by the EU/Lib/Lab/Con - but which are as suited to the UK as a daisy-chain to restrain a Staffie (‘…nowt wrong with that…’, eh!)

Anyone’s second wife is a trophy wife - whatever anyone says. If you can afford to get divorced, and go around again, that alone proves it.
I don’t think it’s ever worth considering marrying your mistress unless she’s still young enough to have kids, and is preferably already knocked up (by you!) at the time.

But being financially skint might not necessarily equate to being spiritually loaded with blessing - so what cost a tight-■■■■ civic admin session with a pork-based* product & chip supper from Ramjam’s Takeaway Emporium* with refreshingly new and improved (one hopes) how’s-ya-father with a down-sized trouble & strife
Sorry, I need subtitles for that one I think.
