My mate says the drivers that come in with the class 1 tippers to take sludge to the nearby tip get £50 per hour for a 12 hour shift. I told him no chance but he assures me he’s friendly with them and saw the figures. They’re not owner drivers either but the haulage company gives them that rate.![]()
you could try telling Pinkladytrucker this, she might apply for a job there, seeing as anything less than a tenner an hour is beneath her

Anything below a tenner an hour is beneath me as well, so don’t knock that market-supporting attitude, and don’t consider her to be beneath anyone on here for thinking thus - despite what we might think in our dreams or not.

If we all refused to work for less than a tenner an hour, then it would become the industry minimum wage.
Ok, we all refuse to work for less than £10 per hour tell me how to feed the kids when your waiting for this miracle to happen? in the real world you would starve. I’m not knocking your hopes, but its pie in the sky for most general haulage jobs. By the way at the moment I am shunting for more than that. ( temporary) Regards Kevmac 47

They must be paying him that due to his sas training. Good job he missed the herald, or he would have missed that job. I reckon he found it in the free ads at the five star hotel tesco put him up in while vosa pink chalked him at goole
Don’t be so naive man, the SAS don’t train you to get off sinking ferries. They knew all along it was going to sink
Look, he was obviously related to the geezer who got parked up in a works unit compound for being over his hours. The load had to be in Belfast the next day so the army authorised him to chain the unit to the gates and rip them off, enabling him to make the Stranraer boat.
I actually heard this rubbish being told on the Brave Merchant one night…

Knocking my hopes? - I’ve got a young family and I’m living the life with an average of 100 hours per month over the year, 6 months holiday, and taking home an expected £18k in year 2012-13 BECAUSE I won’t do any old crap work not on my own terms. There’s no “hopes to be knocked” my friend. I’m already living the life I describe!
Necassary Ingredients: Non-working wife you’re still married to and live with, Child(ren) under age 16 for a while yet, an agency that goes straight down the line with you, and the ability to realise that £18k net for 100 hours a month is better than £25k gross for 200 hours a month!.

When I did some agency work for about 2 months winter of 98 in England (due to my work being seasonal) I refused to work for less than 12 quid an hour … they all paid up so standing up for higher pay can work, if you all did it they would have to cut their greedy profits and pay up.

So your just getting topped up from the government on handouts because you dont earn enought.
Good job not everyones like you.
So your just getting topped up from the government on handouts because you dont earn enought.
Good job not everyones like you.
You must be one of those 4x4 types who’ll vote for anyone wearing a blue rosette if you think I’ve not taken a very measured approach into this “prosper in austerity” lifestyle I’ve carved out in the past year…
There are many others up my street who think it’s cool to run two cars, commute over 100 miles to work, fiddle their expenses, and not give up anything at all in the new world we live in post-2008.
2010-2011 I worked 56 hours a week over 6 days, grossed £42k and liked my job.
That was taken away, so I made the best of what was now available to me.
£25k gross for doing the same hours full time wasn’t going to happen in my book, so I chose to use the new tax system instead of let the already implemented systems abuse me instead. Anyone else given my circumstances is free to do the same. Don’t feel the need to criticise my solution to a deflationary depression in the trucker’s lot nowdays. I don’t criticise people for voting for governments who steal the livelihoods & wages of the working man after all, nor people who insist on driving a 4x4 when they don’t live on a farm, nor those who confuse decent financial planning with backdoor socialism. There is no more shame in claiming tax credits than there is submitting expense accounts to reduce what tax one pays. Objecting to either system just leaves you out of pocket as to what we’re all entitled to, given the same circumstances.
For the record, I’ve never voted Labour/Tory in my life. Looks like the folks in Bradford are starting to realise that “doing the other thing” CAN make a difference. I’d like to see Tatton fall again that’s for sure, but I digress.
As for “Good job not everyone’s like me” - What does that mean exactly?
If you have a choice from giving what you don’t want to give or receiving what you’re now entitled to, then it would be folly to do anything but go with the flow and make the most of one’s own circumstances. I didn’t set out to be married/have a young family/not run a second car/have a non-working housewife/refuse to be pushed around when I performed my old job nor when I left it. That’s my life today however, so I’ll make it pay and prosper until the political system around here changes yet again as it one day must.
Your tone suggests that you hold me in the same kind of derison as a ‘mohammed-come-lately’ who’s stolen your job, a Romanian who’s robbed you at a cashpoint, a russian who’s given you aids, any other eastern european who’s given you TB that you opted out of the BCG which would have prevented it, and of course those who opted out of this modern British malaise of “gotta dumb down, lest I be unpopular with my peer group”.
Back full circle - if everyone was like me then £10ph WOULD be the minimum wage already because no one would be settling for less - already!
If the government is giving you a good kicking - Then take your grievance up with the Government rather than the Dr Marten’s factory!

Nice post but your still coming across as an idle ■■■■■ Whos quite happy to sit back and let the rest ov us support your family. Just because you know how to play the system.
Some people are on less than £10 ph, but put the hours in to make up for it. Those people must have more respect for themselves weres your.
^^^^^^^^ one thousand times this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I have too much self respect to sit on my arse and get my wage topped up by the state
I find it hard to disagree with anybody’s view in this thread. Winseer is doing what the government wants him to do, and I can’t blame him for it. After all, that is what society does, largely.
I can see why it would seem like sharp practice to others, but he didn’t ask to be in his situation and he’s making the best of it in my opinion.
I mean here’s a man who is thinking of the children, he can’t be all bad!

I totally agree ! Someone with intelligence for a change
I don’t know if he’s intelligent or not, but I do know he’s a sponger.
His claim about what he’s doing is no worse than people submitting exspence claims is wrong, its the misuse of expense claims that he should be using as his comparable
If everyone was like him then the 10 per hour would be the last thing on everybodies mind
