My mate says the drivers that come in with the class 1 tippers to take sludge to the nearby tip get £50 per hour for a 12 hour shift. I told him no chance but he assures me he’s friendly with them and saw the figures. They’re not owner drivers either but the haulage company gives them that rate.

If they did 4 12hr shifts it would be £125,000 a year. I think it’s him the drivers are winding up.

Thats 600 quid a day, 3,000 a 5 day week, 156,000 quid a year so why doesn’t your mate work there with his buddy.
If you want to know don’t listen to secondhand gossip, ask an actual driver who works there and even then don’t believe him without proof.

Most people in this world who’ve become rich became so by making damned sure the next person in line missed out. 
Opportunities are taken not given. The ones who say they are “presenting a great opportunity” therefore are usually con artists after your money or client base data.
I would agree that it’s most likely £50 per shift, which may well be classed as lucrative because it’s supposed to be 8 hours for the job, but an experienced guy like Muckaway can do it in half that time on a job & knock basis…
That would therefore be £12.50 per hour net, which isn’t something to cry over right?

Anything below a tenner an hour is beneath me as well, so don’t knock that market-supporting attitude, and don’t consider her to be beneath anyone on here for thinking thus - despite what we might think in our dreams or not. 
If we all refused to work for less than a tenner an hour, then it would become the industry minimum wage.
