Well O had the course yesterday. As ysual, they got a lot of facts wrong. Interesting was another LGV driver on the course. She had been done for sitting on the limiter on the A34.
So guys and gals

Really ? on a duel…
So much for the +% + mph or whatever.
As most run this to the lowest common denominator, as in maritime speed

What about the camera half way up the hill on the S/C bit with overtaking lane? .
chicklade ? if your loaded that hill drags you down to about 30 anyway before you reach the camera

That camera is not working. Has not been working for at least 3 years.
Camera on Ilminster bypass, before A358, has not got any electric to it. Has not worked for at leat 7 years

it might start working soon now they have put all those solar panels in the field over the road lol
this is ridiculous, they might well as go & sit on the A1,A50,A38 & every other dual carriage way we use & get every truck going up & down there for speeding!!!
we know it’s 50mph limit but who in this day & age does it■■?
It’s all so easily worked out on such roads as this, after all, there’s no height sensor involved, I don’t know about the other makes of camera, but some Gatso’s have weight detectors incorporated into the road surface, as it’s easy to tell the difference between under 7.5 tonne and over it.
They might have changed the rules for 7.5’s inasfaras fitting with limiters, but C&U regs and various amendments to the RTA still allow for up to 60 on unrestricted single carriageway, yet the rest of us are stuck to 40, so it only has to know that you’re over 7.5 tonnes and over 44 for single lane or 55 for dual carriageway to be “a menace to society” and “public safety hazard” according to “those who shall be obeyed”
Maybe someone should give all fixed cameras a “Columbian necklace” like the one east of Coventry (A45 or is it A46 - on the link between M6 and M40)…
It is a lovely dual carriageway, and I was doing what I had done for the last 10 years, along with most other truck drivers, which was sitting on the limiter at 56.
Before anybody says it, I know the limit is 50.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have just had the pleasure of giving Hampshire Police/AA Drivetech, the sum of £85.00 for a speed awareness course.
All I am saying is, If on this section of road, then knock it back a couple of clicks. It might take a bit longer, but this will be due to the 85.00 in your pocket slowing the truck down.
Bang goes the old tale about 10% +2mph then (which I believed to be true )

I got done by stonehenge about 10 years ago, I think that was a single stretch though.

What about the camera half way up the hill on the S/C bit with overtaking lane? Can’t remember where it is, but I’m sure it was Avon and Somerset who issued me with a NIP Although I got away with it by being a clever boy, but they still sent it out and that was for 52 in a 40.

you mean at chicklade i think, that one has been turned off as the ones at wyle have due to the fact that wilts police can’t afford to run them

Poor old Wiltshire Constabulary
due to some off our drivers at my work our work vans have been restricted too many have been caught on the a303 speeding i go along there quite often between amesbury and andover always stick to limit have seen coppers parked in laybys
One of our drivers got done there last year doing 52 in a 40, its popular with the camera brigade because its such a mixture of single and dual, shame cos its a nice road to drive on otherwise.
Monday and Tuesday last week the police were very active with speed checks around the Andover area. Plain cars, marked cars and bikes, static speed camera vans at the roadside and also cameras on bridges. Looked like a major clamp-down. Most of the lay-byes were busy with stopped vehicles of every class…
I was lucky, saw one guy getting pulled going the opposite way so was being extra careful…

Hmmm…methinks there is some mischief-making and trolling going on…

Any chance of a copy of the NIP? - blank out the personal bits of course.
