Its a speed limit not an adrenalin rush speed ride :unamused:
Your suposed to be a boring goverment ■■■■■ and obey the rules

Martin:
Monday and Tuesday last week the police were very active with speed checks around the Andover area. Plain cars, marked cars and bikes, static speed camera vans at the roadside and also cameras on bridges. Looked like a major clamp-down. Most of the lay-byes were busy with stopped vehicles of every class…
I was lucky, saw one guy getting pulled going the opposite way so was being extra careful…

Sounds more like an ANPR road tax check.

in all the years i have travelled that road and i do it every week i have never come off the limiter!! i have past police cars and not been stopped once, you must of been really unlucky on that one then

What about the camera half way up the hill on the S/C bit with overtaking lane? Can’t remember where it is, but I’m sure it was Avon and Somerset who issued me with a NIP  Although I got away with it by being a clever boy, but they still sent it out and that was for 52 in a 40.

I got done there ,a car passed me at 70 as we were coming up to the camera & no prob; I get nicked for 50 in a 40 limit. The camera must have a height sensor?

HA HA. :unamused:

newmercman:
Bang goes the old tale about 10% +2mph then (which I believed to be true  )

You get 10% only.

So there is a benefit to having a limiter set at 52.

Gotcha good and proper too!

Probably still is true for your average traffic cop unless someone is doing something stupid, but to the operatives at the speed scamera partnerships hiding in vans or using fixed cams, go 2 mph over the limit and you qualify to be put on their mailing list

Some “intelligent” speed speed camera’s now have ANPR built in, it know’s the speed limit for your vehicle on that road instantly.

Right guys. Hello. Personal experience says that a lot of the cameras in the Lincolnshire area are ANPR equipped. There are trial areas for a new type of camera. Lincs being one of the first, and I believe that West Mids and Staffs may be the others. I got a ticket in Lincs, doing 50 in a 50, on a stretch of dual track reduced to single on the A17. HATCH MARKINGS are now classed as a legal reason to reduce the speed limit where road safety issues have been raised. I was also “crashed into” on the A30 at Hartley Whitney , near hook, hampshire on a dual track where similar hatch markings have been applied. The female driver who hit my truck claimed to police I was driving too slowly for the road. He all but told her she should pack up with the blame game, and take responsibility for her own actions. I was at 44 tonne and going along a road that is up and down, and that I didnt know - I was travelling at 40. So it worked in my favour there.

SWEDISH BLUE:
It is a lovely dual carriageway, and I was doing what I had done for the last 10 years, along with most other truck drivers, which was sitting on the limiter at 56.
Before anybody says it, I know the limit is 50.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have just had the pleasure of giving Hampshire Police/AA Drivetech, the sum of £85.00 for a speed awareness course.

All I am saying is, If on this section of road, then knock it back a couple of clicks. It might take a bit longer, but this will be due to the 85.00 in your pocket slowing the truck down.

Any chance of a copy of the NIP? - blank out the personal bits of course.

were you caught by a scamera or a traffic cop? as i go from A34 to Amesbury and don’t recall a camera there?

No idea. Dont remember seeing a van. It is a very vague location

Only time I’ve ever been done for speeding, speed camera at Yeovilton helicopter base. Long line of cars going south at 50 mph on s/c (my mistake, I know) as I went through I saw it flash. Got something to do with the camera detecting mass?
