90 hours

Should the 90 hours driving per fortnight be scrapped?

To be replaced with?

[zb] all, just scrap it.

What would you put in place of 90 hours ? 100 hrs? 200 hrs ? a free for all where you drive to you fall asleep and kill yourself ? 90 protects drivers from bosses or transport managers that would drive you round the clock and drivers who don’t know how to say “No I’m not doing that I’ve worked my hours and now I’m going home to rest”
Unless you have an alternative that keeps drivers safe …

That’s what I was thinking, it could perhaps be simplified a touch, just make it 40 a week rarther than over a fortnight and having to mess with extended rests and so on (sound like I’m playing pool now  )

56 hours per week in accordance with the present tachograph regs. just scrap the 90 hour fortnightly bit.
why should a driver that has plenty of weekly driving time left on a thursday afternoon have to park up until the following week before he can go home?

I voted no
90hours driving in a fortnight plus all the other work well over 100 hours or 50 odd worked hours every week is more that enough thank you

Unpaid POA should be scrapped. That’ll get everyone under 90 hours, and home every weekend forthwith! :smiling_imp:

Boss:

“Ooerr! Fred has done 45 hours so far this week, and should we send him out on that TKmax pickup this friday afternoon, or leave it to one of the weekenders?”

Weekender:
“Nay bother boss, I’ll come in early!”

“ShhFffkkkk! I’m gonna have to take the wife shopping if I don’t get the weekend out unpaid!”

The moral of the story being, ‘there’s no pleasing some people!’ :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

That I could agree with, just make it a weekly set.

Those days are gone Limey - I’ve been there and done it 23 hr days , a new card every 9 hours using every lane of the M6 trying to get to Birmingham market with a load of mushrooms that nobody cared about .
I’m off to drive one of those Axors with no back windows tonight  and quite relaxing and fun I find it - embrace the change - change or get left behind . If you need proof look at the dinosaurs.

All the dinosaurs are extinct but all the rich tossers they fed are still screwing everyone else! Brilliant - lets have that free for all. Remember, Britain is open for business. Who said that I wonder?

No, because it means im going home tomorrow.

45 hrs is plenty enough each week thank you very much. i tramp all week and manage to get done what is required within this time, if i aint got time to do it then tell the office it can’t be done simple as, its my licence and i want to keep it :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

what do you do on the off chance you reach 90 hours in a fortnight before you get back to the yard?

90 is OK! A bummer if doing Europe I reckon. But I don’t do Europe!

I bet people who have answered NO are ENGLISH… LAzy bunch of ■■■■■. It only seems to be the Irish/Scots & Dutch who want to do hard graft, half the tw@ts on this forum want to lie around doing sweet FA and get paid for it, LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD… People say why do 90hrs+… Well why not? Surely the more you do the more you get paid? Not ■■■■■■ rocket science? Because of this 90hrs a fortnight I lose out on money, yet I have a family, mortgage etc same scenario for probably 95% of people on here, and id be willing to do more if the LAWS allowed it… one of the few rules I agree with is the weekend breaks. Nowts better coming home knowing youve hard grafted over the week and come home to the family to spend time with them and chill out… CIInts on here want money for nothing…

Steady on fella. The birds up north may be a bit Susan Boyle but down here they’re worth wanting to go home to

I get home every 2nd day pal… If I could get home more and/or even find a job locally that paid a half decent wage I would give up driving… Its a crap job, with crap hours and crap money and too many rules/regs and arrogant ■■■■■■

Yes dessy, but going round in circles on that M25, especially on a digi card you lose eighty hours a fortnight anyway! :sunglasses: lazy cockneys :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: I voted yes, to scrapping it, but to what I don’t know! Too outdated theses laws :unamused:   :sunglasses: :grimacing: :grimacing:
