90 hour fortnight

There’s a chance I might go over 90 fortnight this week I told the office and his response was we’ll park you up for 24 hours but surely I’ll still be over until 00.001 Monday morning?

Your week works 00.00 Monday until Sunday 23.59… Without knowing when your 90hours are going to be up, wether tomorrow, Sat or Sunday then it looks as if you may be spending more than 24 hours somewhere, hopefully somewhere decent as a dingy layby aint the best.

thought RB did shifts of 4 on 4 off?? the few i’ve spoken too was on that type of shift pattern,didn’t think they did the tramping all week malarkey

work your hours out to get back. by this i mean, if you need to head north to get home, then head north. even if the planner says south to load.
and when they start spouting a load of [zb] your way, just explain that you are not interested in speaking to a planner who can’t plan.
we all have lives outside of a truck.

Agree with Phil but there is one alternative - driver swap - as long as you have enough DUTY time to get back to base - any driving of a vehicle under 3.5 tonnes is other work

adds fuel to the fire

MMTM if they hire a car for you if your DUTY time is low it counts as REST :wink: :laughing: :laughing: :laughing:

wofts the flames some more
:grimacing: :grimacing:

I will add more fuel to the fire… Are Vosa actually all that bothered if your over your 90hours by a couple of hours? :laughing:

Surely after a park up of 24 hours the clock is reset■■? The difference must be paid back by the end of the 3rd week in one block of 21 hours!

Long weekend coming up :sunglasses:

Long weekend coming up :sunglasses:

not quite right.
i finished last friday at 15.30, and started on monday at 15.00.
i started with 33 hours gone from the 90 hour rule.

it’s all a load of [zb] anyway. if you’re not over your usual driving hours, and have taken the relevent rest. then who gives a [zb].

You would be correct. The 90 hours fortnightly driving limit is based on ‘fixed weeks’.

I’m afraid I’d be doing as others have said - heading for home!

Are you thinking of weekly rests :question:

Driving time is not ‘between weekly rest periods’ but is over the fixed week (mon 0000 to Sun 2400) and the fortnightly driving time is over any two consecutive fixed weeks

im near dundee tonite. tomorrow i’m going down to harlow aprox 9 hours driving then aprox 4 hours back to yard the trusty sat nav says 13 1/4 hours total driving. at present i’m upto 75 hours in the nite so its possible if i meet no traffic!!!

does vosa take the 90 hours rule seriously?

Mr B:

if you get pulled and vosa man see’s your gone over your 90 hours the worst he’ll do is prob shrug his shoulders…

…and write out a FPN :exclamation:

joking aside doubt you’d be up infront of the TC for tea and biscuits if you did.

I depends on the seriousness of the offence,according to the fixed penalties list this is what you could expect to happen if stopped:

**DRIVER:-**
**EXCEED 9 HOURS DRIVING**
**(EC REGULATIONS)**
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If driving time has been exceeded by up to 15 minutes:
- in isolated cases.
Verbal Warning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- If a continued journey is suspected and offence is current

TE160DH (Prohibition Notice)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If driving time has been exceeded more than 15 minutes and offence is current - unless a reasonable justification is given, ie finish of duty and is very close to base:-
TE160DH & Fixed Penalty (See bellow)
Over 15 minutes - up to 1 hour = £60 FP
Over 1 hour - up to 2 hours = £120 FP
Over 2 hours = £200 FP.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If you're likely to be going over the 90 hours by more than 15 minutes it's would probably be best to get a lift back if possible.

Good luck :wink:

I would question if you have actually done 90 hours DRIVING In Europe it is quite easy as you can drive 6 maximum days, 10,10,9,9,9,9 but I doubt you will ever do that, every other week with weekend and evening bans.

I wonder whether the roads are clear enough in the UK to drive so many hours :laughing:

I am interested in the answers

could be that the driving for the previous week was say 45 hours and this week looks like being say 47 hours which would go over the 90 max :bulb:

All I meant was that every other post I read seems to involve a 6 hour delay at an RDC, ports or while stuffing a container. The others seem to involve waiting in a canteen while the inept planner allocates a truck and a job. Maybe someone is actually keeping this country afloat and doing some proper graft :wink:

Correct me if I’m misunderstanding this but if I’m getting this correctly you started at 04:00 Saturday worked Sunday, Monday Tuesday Wednesday and finished on Thursday at 06:00, you’re working Thursday night until about 09:00 Friday and will start again at 19:00 Friday until about 03:00 Saturday and then do another short run on Saturday :open_mouth:

OK! if you want us to tell you that to work over 7 consecutive days is legal then “It’s legal” :laughing:

But you know it’s not :stuck_out_tongue: :wink:
