9 Hours reduction whos decision

who gets paid for taking a reduced break,
no one
so we should we put up with bullying and threats
the week is long enough

toby1234abc:
If you are 15 mins drive from your base, and are due the 24 or 45 hour off for the weekly rest,do you go over the driving hours to get home or adhere to the letter of the law?

No brainier really, although I’m sure there, are some that would be spending 45hrs in a lay-by because “I don’t run bent”.

Cheers
Neilf

As long as it’s not done on a regular basis even VOSA wouldn’t expect you to stay out in those circumstances.

DRIVER:-
EXCEED 9 HOURS DRIVING

If driving time has been exceeded more than 15 minutes and offence is current - unless a reasonable justification is given, ie finish of duty and is very close to base:-

Thats a useful link. Probley the most interesting post to come off here for ages , many thanks . :sunglasses:

The way i see things is the haulage industry must change as the the next generation of drivers come through the system. Anyone working with most young workers now know they are unreliable and lazy and unable to do things on there own. Most young people will not put up with the crap most trampers put up with for the wages we get, but most general haulage company’s just bury there heads in the sand and treat drivers like dirt.

The haulage industry doesnt care about any young British drivers coming into the industry as there is a large pool of young and keen drivers still heading here from the former eastern bloc who see £400 a week as a kings ransom.

The eastern european low wage malarky won’t last for long.
The polish economy is motoring along compared to ours and that of other EU states.
wages will rise to something near to what they can get here, house prices and the general cost of living will be much less than ours. so unless the British government and employers do something sharpish, We’ll have an economy similar to that of Greece, or worse.
