Im still quite happy about the protest, its still raised a lot of awareness and Im sure the next one will be bigger againIm not expecting things to change overnight but there were several tankers held up for several hours at stanlow, regardless of what the newspapers said. The guys who were running the protest really bigged it up a bit much but it doesnt stop here, nobodys going home saying “Ah well we tried and failed”. This is just the start, theres a lot more in the pipeline.
Much love.

So whats the reason for the protest only lasting 18 hours instead of until the price is cut by 24ppl, and how come there were no blockades like you said there would be?
Cant you bloody idiot protestors see that the general public are not interested in you holding them up :unamused: Why do you not go to the heart of Whitehall, where the decisions are made? It has bugger all to do with the general public, so why do you insist on inconveniencing them■■? I just don
t get it at all.
Go and inconvenience some of HMRC, find out who advises the MP`s and inconvenience them, but to inconvenience US, you need a bloody word with yoursen.

Not enough people were prepared to stay that long, but there was a short blockade which held up some tankers for a few hours but nothing major. Theres already a whole series of protests being organised as a follow up

Haha, dont get all worked up now… Funny how the people too lazy to get off their arse and do something always have so many great ideas…

The only people who wont be on our side are the people who dont realise that the short-term hardship caused by protesting is NOTHING compared to the long-term hardship that will be suffered if we do nothing.

Thread titles a bit misleading then
Surely you only need 3 or 4 cars to blockade a road anyway
The ■■■■■■■■ about blocking several tankers is just that. Fuel is moved throughout the UK by pipeline so you can set fire to Stanlow and that little fuel station near Ince will still get a delivery.
There is a Texaco station less than 1/2 mile from Downing Street, go and see if they give a zb
lets hope the vostapo dont restrict some hauliers operators licences…
hey boze,a go slow is supposed tobe that a GO-SLOW,instead the police forced everyone into 1 lane, you went slow and everyone else went flying past you,you wasted a 10 er in fuel getting upto llandudno,a 10 er back,no blockades,no stayin til 24 p was knocked off,the whole group is an absolute joke.it was far from bringing the north west to a halt.you all made fools of yourselves BIG TIME
I’m sure the men in suits down Whitehall are bricking themselves in the face of a few small/minor/negliable delays to commuters in the North West.
Probably haven’t even noticed anythings going on. I haven’t, and thats where i’m based.
The “demand” of 24p to be knocked off a litre is an incredibly naive request… thats 10s of millions in tax revenues the government would have to find from somewhere else overnight (and everyone effected would then complain about that).
I’m all for campaigning for lower fuel prices, but this hasn’t been thought through. Its embarrasing in fact. Just get back to work.

Fuel piplines runnin all over the country?? Thats a goodun

Indeed it is. Here is a map which gives an outline of refineries and some of the main terminals and pipelines in simplified form.
And here are the details of the 1 million road tanker journeys saved each year by using pipelines. Over a third of the 75 million tonnes of fuel products moved each year in the UK is by pipeline
Pipelines
Britain is criss-crossed by a network of pipelines, some of them owned by individual oil companies dedicated to supplying their own terminals, some - for example United Kingdom Oil Pipelines - being joint ventures and others belonging to the Government.Pipelines are an efficient and safe means of moving large volumes of refined products from a refinery to a storage terminal. Although the initial capital costs of building a line are high, the operating costs are far lower than other means of transport, particularly when set against the expected life span of a pipeline. Once installed underground, pipelines offer substantial environmental and safety benefits, not least from the elimination of road tanker journeys or transportation by rail or sea.
Pipelines usually transport petrol, diesel and jet fuel. Each year 30 million tonnes are moved in this way in the UK, equivalent to about 1,000,000 road tanker journeys. Pipelines are controlled through sophisticated computer systems linked to sensors and automated valves, which enables an operator to optimise speed of flow and limit mixing of different products within the line.
Distribution of jet fuel to major airports is mainly done by pipelines which link to tankage at the airport and then to a pipeline network beneath the airport apron, to which specialist fuel dispensers can connect to refuel planes.
There you go boze, you and your mates go and hire a Stihl saw and cut off the fuel supply, make sure you all get as close together as you can when cutting the pipe so no one sees you
Hi boze,
I have some news for you…
I live in Ellesmere Port, and this week I’m working at a premises on Oil Sites Road.
My Monday morning journey to work (at 8am) wasn’t disrupted in any way whatsoever, apart from the temporary traffic lights near the police station, but your campaign can’t claim credit for disrupting me even that little bit cos I happen to know that there are ongoing repairs to a gas main.
FYI, I can confirm that I saw both petrol and bitumen tankers and all other traffic going about their business quite normally on Oil Sites Road on all days of this week so far.
The one event that your protest might be able to claim credit for is the fact that I saw a police helicopter hovering near the M53 for a short while at lunchtime on Monday of this week. The reason I think this was connected to your protest is that I’m fairly sure that the reason that the helicopter was looking a bit wobbly in the air is because I think I could see the crew laughing their heads off, but in all honesty I can’t confirm the reason. Anyway, the helicopter wasn’t there for very long because they had to go to their next job and urgently watch some paint drying.
Better luck next time!!
Sorry folks, been busy with college but heres a wee video:
