8th May - Major Blockades

Its mental, the goverment are the ones taking the money but the OP decides it motorist who should be punished even more, wheres the logic in that?

Im glad its getting people talking

Saxmachine: At the moment just the blockades but you can get in touch with Ian or Kevin on their facebook to see if theres anything else happening and to keep on top of all the action:

facebook.com/home.php?sk=gr … 92478&ap=1

rockape: I know its a horrible feeling knowing youre getting shafted by the government and it does seem utterly hopeless and pointless sometimes but if we keep going we WILL get enough people eventually to make it happen

cheers

Make what happen?

I am a little confused about the bringing the cost of fuel back in line with Europe
Petrol costs between 1.55 - 1.75 Euro per litre, substantially more than here, whereas diesel is a lot cheaper, so I guess they want the cost of diesel brought back in line then :unamused:

If you look at the bigger picture, you can see that respective Govts. want people less mobile than ever before. I have seen the use of bicycles in the near continent go up massively.

I am due to move house at the end of May…I will keep some petrol in reserve, so I can go and pay the organiser of said protests a very personal visit…If my move is delayed in any way.
I have been going through the mill for a year with this now, and I am becoming psychotic once again :imp:

att: Its a shame youve had it tough with regards to the move but dishing out personal threats on a forum is a bit childish, no?

Please see here for European fuel prices as of Feb 2011:

Youll see the averages are nowhere near what you are saying

I have just come back from a tour of northern europe…Yesterday infact, so it is my personal recent experience, I drove a Jag, and I know how much it cost me in fuel.
And it was not a personal threat of any kind of violence, thats just the way in which you interperate it

As for the psychosis…I do have mental health issues that have become increasingly worse of late.

The people who organise these kind of protests, need to realise that there are a great many others out there that have issues and in causing disruption to others they also bring the possibility of harm to themselves and their immediate families…And before you go off on one, that is not a threat, just reality.

In no way do I threaten anyone with any form of violence, it is not my style.

I laugh at these people who start waving with fuel prices in Europe.
Yes they are cheaper…but,
road tax in the UK is one of the cheapest in Europe.
For example, my Mondeo diesel cost in the UK GBP 165,- per year.
The same car cost in Holland on petrol Euro 612,- per year, or Euro 1240,- for a diesel per year.
Same car cost in Belgium Euro 458,96 per year
While in Holland the diesel much cheaper is as in the UK, Euro 1.27 against Euro 1.48 it still means that I have to use Euro 1093,98 worth of Diesel before I turn even.
with the current prices that would be 740lts or at 40MPG = 10.500km = 6514 miles.

Is the Diesel than still extremely expensive?

Fuel price tells only half a story, and a lot opportunist will walk in these protest open their mouth and let their belly rumble, but don’t have a clue how and what.

If you really want to do something what hit the governments……………………….stay at home with all your people and don’t fill up at all, that’s how you hit the people in charge, if enough people do this the price will come down to make it attractive to use your car, truck, bike etc.

Advantage would be that you are out the way of people who are willing to pay that price, because why would I need to suffer for your problem.

Protest is about democracy but to block my fuel supply off, and to stop me from living my life has nothing to do with DEMOCRACY, it’s actually the opposite.

I will fight everybody who stops my hard earned FREEDOM by stopping me to chose my way of transport, where I want to be, or to buy what I want.
Blockages are in line with communism, socialism and uber control, there has been some famous governments and Dictators been in the past who had this practice, I don’t think any well thinking person wants to be on the same level by restricting othe people in the way they CHOOSE to live.

So stay home and don’t buy any fuel, that is what you should do to force the government to come your way, not over the back of other people!!!

The Saxmachine:
Protests don’t work at all. What’s happened in the middle east recently is proof :unamused:

It needs to happen. I’m glad to see that something of reasonable size is being conducted. Anything in the east or just refineries getting blocked?

poll tax riots certainly helped

So we shouldn’t do “what the Dutch do” then

Never heard anything about it.Nothing will come of it, if the EU…er common market told uk truckers to wear a shirt and tie and hop round the vehicle when doing the checks they would , whats that saying they jump we ask how high…WTD ,DRIVER CPC POA DONT MAKE ME LAUGH

Just an observation.
Filling station operators sensing potential shortages and panic buying, are likely to push up prices.
I am sure there is a law of unintended consequences.

boze:
Besides, there has NEVER been a fuel protest of this magnitude in the UK. This is going to make the previous fuel protests look tiny. You wait and see

LOL.

So there’s gonna be 10 people protesting instead of 5 this time then?

I heard the Wombles are going to be there, along with Master Bateson and Seaman Staines from Captain Pugwash.Taxi driver next door to me,is taking Basil Brush.

The only way to do it, but it has to be done by everyone, that way wouldn’t take long to see some changes from not only the government but the petrol company’s as well

Keep it up Toby

i don’t know what petrol costs and I don’t care, when I want it I buy it. I’m going to Scotland and back on Saturday in a 2.5 litre V6 and it is no doubt going to cost me a few quid in petrol but I want to go so therefore I need the petrol and will pay whatever it currently is.

I do find it rather strange that people who are worrying about the cost of petrol and getting all drama queen about it are going to then waste it by driving about a bit to get on the telly. :unamused: :unamused: Bunch of throbbers.

Why is there no protests about the price of gas, electric, water and bread?

Or the Ryan air ad to the sunny beaches of an artic climate, false advert again by the mad Irishman.

What was the point of Bozo and his 2 mates blocking Stobarts■■?
