0 intrest in Scanias for a simple reason - when I drive one I get a sore back from the seating position . But and if anyone can enlighten me I’d be gratefull lately there seems to have been a shift from 730 's to 650’s - why ? It seems to me that the 650 is the “one” to have now .
Give it a couple of months and Volvo will announce a 780/790/800 hp and the world will continue spinning as before . Just to be clear I want a 750 Volvo - I may not have any real need for one , it may not make sence but I really don’t care . I’ve always had the 12 or 13 liter lumps and I have never in 23 years of driving got a drive in a 16 liter .
With the 650 vs 730 its as simpel as, the 650 has 3300nm with Scr only. The 730 was an old configuration with scr + egr and only 200nm more. Also alot more complicated turbosetup. 650 is back to basics and thats how the new 770 is designed also.
Volvo may have an answer but there 16l engines at the moment are just crap. A double turbo setup with egr and enormus problems. They use the downtuned 650 version in mining and it still doesnt last, with a downtime off 40% in Kiruna. Its egr, turbo and injectors. Especially egr problems shuldnt be in that envoirment with max power all the time and almost double the weight compared to uk. Scania also run there and it has mostly been problems with the new gear box, none engine related
Btw you cant even get a 750 in australia due to it running to hot. Scanias 730 has been the strongest there

Not saying where it happened but a couple of Irish lads decided one night to see what a 730 would actually do , so the limiter was disconected , trailer dropped and a suitable piece of tarmac found . GPS was reading 125mph when they ran out of straight road and had to back it off a little - they reconned she was still pulling and there was a lot more there if anyone was daft enough to keep the foot down .
So… how do you disconnect the limiter and then reconnect without the need for an authorized workshop?
Anyhoo, a simple drop of common sense would tell the amount of power a truck makes is not relevant to it’s top speed. It’s limited by the redline. Any old six-cylinder of any make can reach it really, I’d hazard a guess it would be a bit more comfortable with a trailer though. Even with an OD box, 1150rpm@55, 125mph would take it well into red.
Short out CAN high comunication with it running is the easiest way to get rid of the limiter.
But you will reach readline with a loaded trailer to so just an stupid discussion all toghter

The CAT C18 seems to be the only realistic contender to the Scania motor on paper.

Is it still the case, that MAN and Scania are both owned by The VW group, thus… all these scania lovers are just driving a MaN with a make over.
Using that logic… the lambo owners are simply buying skodas with a makeover. Except its total rubbish spouted by people who have no idea what they are talking about.

Lamborghini are well thought of tractor makers.
Some of them have poor ground clearance though.

As suspected, same axle engine drive train etc … you cannot compare a Lamborghini and Skoda, due to many factors. However commercially you can. Maybe volkswagen don’t have a clue what they are talking about either huh.
