7.5 ton horse box

tiggz:
My hat certainly goes off to Ladytrucker, you can’t strap a horse down and not make it move,

Why not  . I’d be out wi’me ratchet straps, straight over the top of the beast, nice and tight :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

I am sorry i am with ladytrucker on this one. We have had this discussion so many times in the past. I drive a 23 year old bedford tl860 7.5 t horsebox. And i have to put up with idiots in artics carrying on because i am travelling at the speed limit on a single carraigeway road. Yes the old thing struggles on hills but you couldnt catch me on the flat  . incidentally it struggles no more than my 40t artic bulk tipper on a good hill :open_mouth: . i get all the twee comments from so called professional drivers when i pull in for diesel. So what if some of these girls are inexperienced. How the hell will they learn if no one gives them a chance. I would rather my very valuable pony was driven steadily than by some maniac. just live and let live :exclamation:
p.s. It goes through exactly the same MOT so is just as well maintained as yours (and my mechanic wouldn’t have taken 3 months to find an air leak like Scania!!!)

Niall:
I was speaking to a friend recently who breeds racehorses.

I remember him saying that some horses can change hands for 2 or 3 hundred thousand pounds plus.

.

and the rest…

there was a showjumper on telly last weekend bought for 1,000,000 euros :unamused:

just don’t ask how much some of the top racehorses sell for :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Showjumpers and race horses may be expensive but my horse has been trained to stop at the smell of beer! Priceless!

Stop at the smell of beer :open_mouth: Mine drinks pimms out of the glass :open_mouth: Like mother like pony. anything for a drink. Can stand still whilst i light a ■■■ and have a drink and joins in with the drinking bit, Now thats training

Nessa:

Nessa, do you live in Carlton, have a daughter in her mid 20’s and keep the horse in a stable at the bottom of your garden

Nessa I can’t let him drink pimms, this was a mining community (when we had mines) you can get away with a pint of smooth but I doubt that the bar staff have heard of pimms.

While we’re on the subject of horses, how about this.

What are your views on fox hunting ?

No - this is not a political question, but a genuine question…

I personally have never seen a hunt in full swing, only on the telly.

I agree with it though, as it is a part of British tradition, normally on Boxing Day.

It is nice to see the riders, with their smart clothes and hats, complete with dogs, chase the fox across the countryside.

The fox is not yet an endangered species, so why do so many people complain?

Cheers,

Niall.

I see trouble ahead… I’ll have you a sportsmans that this thread will now spiral out of control now you’ve posted this :open_mouth: . Some topics are just best left alone me thinks…

With respect.

Additionally, I don’t see any connection with horses and foxes either   , in fact not even foxes and trucks for that matter :open_mouth:

Niall I love reading your posts but I beg of you please don’t go there!
I’m an old fashioned country girl who can tickle trout and skin rabbits but trust me this subject will only end up in tears the equestrian world is torn between the old and the new on this one so an open debate can only lead to disaster.

I’ll leave it there and carry on.
