6th May Eu/UK Offences

As I understand it, from today the UK is in the cross border scheme for the sharing of vehicle details:
As an example, getting flashed by a speed camera in France is not a “Free Pass” for UK reg vehicles any more. Now the Fr authorities can apply for the owners details and send a fixed penalty notice. Its a reciprocal arrangement so foreign reg vehicles cant get away with breaking UK laws so easily.
I think it applies to speeding, drink/drive (although theyd have to stop you at the time surely), red-lights, one-way streets, mobile phones. I cant see that points can be given on a licence, but can see fines will be collected.

Is this an EU thing because if it is will it continue after we leave

Britain was one of the last countries to comply with this, but now it’s up and running I should think it will stay after we leave.

When is that going to be then?

Firstly born as “2011/82/EU” but that was nullified in 2014.
Re-booted as “2015/415/EU” but the UK opted out at that time.
Now “SI 2017 554” active from to-day.

And we leave the Eu in March 2019, unless ALL the Eu member states agree to an extension of talks. (And even with the UK excluded ALL of them agreeing on anything will be pretty rare)

Feel free to correct me on any of the above.

Dear Sir,

The Tories party will get around to your query in approximately 5 years, so please be patient!

Kind Regards,

The Conservative Party.

Interesting times ahead. More and more voices in Europe are now starting to sound less and less co-operative, or even downright belingerent. That is only going to get worse.

Is there really anybody, anybody at all, really so deluded that they think that Europe will agree to free trade, with no freedom of movement, and no financial contribution? Does anybody really think that Europe will let Britain have its cake, and let it eat it? Theresa is doing a fine job on the retoricon, but all promises off 'the best deal for Britain ’ are wishful thinking. Or, seeing as she is a politician, downright self serving lies…

There are only two ways in which this Island is going to get out of this with any hope of a future. Don’t leave the EU (unlikely, and if that would happen, you can bet your last Pound that there will be some severe repercussions …), or rebuild a credible manufacturing base within the next few years.

The really interesting issue is what the financial services will do… if they leave for Frankfurt or Luxembourg or another Euro zone country, Britain will be finished.

If and When we leave the Eu will we still be able to use Dignitas? Slashing one`s wrists seems so messy.

I believe Dignitas is in Switzerland which is an EFTA country not an EU Country,

Firstly luckily so far their are no licence penalty implications only fines.Which hopefully will stay the case just so long as German drivers rightly won’t want to lose a German licence for French speeding infringements within ridiculous French speed limits.

Maybe this thread is getting a little too morbid?
Maybe Charlie Brown the cartoon character of Charles M. Schulz would cheer us all up?

Nice one Franglais,

I didn’t want to reply and take this thread off course, but I’m going to as it seems to have done so already.
Being fully signed up member’s of the globalised, free market club and friends with big business and financial institutions, (who will no doubt offer them nicely lucrative consultancies positions after their parliamentary career if they do their bidding) Many conservative MP’s are Pro-EU, so I think May might have played a bit of blinder (for those that support her anyway :frowning: ) by holding an election now, it might give her a massive majority in parliament, so less need to keep the Anti-Euro bunch happy and also 3 years after we leave to the next election to show it’s working.

I reckon once all the showboating is done and the serious negotiations start the needs of the multi nationals and financials intuitions will come out on top for both sides, :unamused:
The deal will be free trade in goods and especially services (to keep the City happy), in return for free movement of labour, again as businesses say they want that also. There might be some sort of restrictions on paper, like you have to have a job to come to, to make it look like there is a sorting process, but it won’t make much difference in practice.
We will pay an “exit fee” over a period of years, so actually it becomes a continued membership fee, and there might be a bit of a punishment to stop others thinking on the same lines, but basically it will be business as usual.

You can bet your boots that the continent will enforce fines 100%, whilst we let most of those people snapped off, especially the foreign vehicles.
If we’re not careful, regardless of being in or out of the EU - this will turn into a steady stream of money leaving mainland Britain for mainland Europe. :bulb:

28th March 2019, not a day later. Once May issued an Article 50 notice then the maximum time for leaving the EU assuming no agreement is agreed upon is 2 years.

Nah ! With no exports, there will be no UK trucks taking anything into Europe, so no fines for them. With no financial institutions left we`ll have no foreign earnings, so no-one able to afford holidays, and again no fines for UK vehicles.
The rich foreigners coming over here will be a nice little earner, as they visit nice, cheap, post industrial, England, doling out their Euros as we squeegie their windscreens.

Other distopian visions ARE available, but not many “all lived happily ever after”.

According to the article in todays Telegraph only foreign registered vehicles caught /snapped in Europe will be fined .Those of us with foreign plated cars will still not be fined in the Uk .
