My personal thoughts: (I also copy and paste a few things to highlight my thoughts on it)
164 days working per anno seems attractive and if you want you can do a bit overtime.
Does that mean working Christmas Day? Probably if you’re unlucky with your rota.
164 days a 6on 6off means also in my eyes “working” 84 hours including Breaks, POA, Other work, Driving (3x 15hrs, 3x 13hrs)
May be right for some but definetly a awful lot of hours. But on the other hand you got 6 days to recuperate
All depending on the contracted hours, which can’t be found in the job advert.
Hourly Rate?
I just devided £26,500 by the 164 days = £161,58 per day (Looks good so far)

£161,58 per day by either 15 hrs = £10,77
£161,58 per day by either 13 hrs = £12,42
So far still good rates but come on. A night out payment and meal allowance isn’t mentioned above. So I think it’s included to make the pay better.

As far I know the company mentioned and looking for drivers does the general haulage and contracted haulage. So I bet there’s a bit graft and lot’s of rushing around involved. They don’t seem be best payers as said in other topics on Trucknet.
Drive a DAF or Merc (our average fleet age is 18 months internal cab fridges)

Driver handheld tablet.
Mobile phone
Trying to get Drivers with handheld tablets and mobile phones?
- I mean that is minium basic equipment in every truck in these days and I doubt they let you use the mobile phone for private calls etc. I also used to get a mobile as Limper sometimes to call with arrival times, for next loads etc.
- Pension scheme is the Law anyway.
- Driving a DAF or MERC (internal cab frigdes) > Mimium equipment even for small hauliers.
All together this advert maybe looks good with “only 164 days” working but as I tried to point out it made me think about several things and I don’t think this would be for me but everybody feel free to apply there.
I just do 6 months on,6months off.
No need to complicate things
I think most of this work is on the smurfitt/kappa D.S SMITH contract shifting cardboard/packaging,Think they offer 4 on 4 off too.
50 % of the year in one of their trucks either driving or sitting in a p155 soaked laybay playing a game on your company tablet, guarding the fuel, load and lorry.
164 x 24 hr = 3936 hours
£27500 / 3936 = £6.98 per hour before tax.
erm
er

No Thanks
Having said that if I was a divorced guy with children then maybe ok to be able to have fixed length of time to spend with them ?

Serious question mate; have you ever done any type of work in the haulage industry that involved being away overnight? If the answer is yes then why did you subject yourself to such a miserable sounding existence that tbh only seems to afflict the terminally stupid and lacking imagination type of person. If the answer is no then what qualifies you to rattle out something a mate of a mate of a mate who actually does the job told you and have the temerity to state that as though it’s fact?
Perhaps slightly different, the mines work on a shift system up here and a lot of the shifts are 7 Days x 12hrs on then 7 Days off. This works out at about 170 hrs per month with a take home pay of about £2500 including extras. The majority of people here seem to be in favour of this as it gives guaranteed free time, and as most people calculate their free weeks when they take holidays,[so they have between 3-5 weeks holiday]You work less than half year.

Please be quiet, you’re making yourself look incredibly stupid.

I don’t know who you work for mate who expect you to park in “ ■■■■ soaked lay-bys” and be a security guard at night when off duty but I’d be telling them to get ■■■■■■. I park somewhere suitable for me and my requirements at night seen as they in the office are going home to a nice bath and cooked meal and I certainly ain’t a security guard for their diesel or load which their insurance policy should cover them for if any get stolen.
As long as I’m not their target they can have whatever the ■■■■ they want.
Sort of sounds interesting, not to me though but I could see it suiting some folk down to the ground. The pay seems okish…as long as nights out are payed on top otherwise it’s cr4p.

Same as that. Who wants to work when the sun is shining?

Always makes me laugh when they say “Uniform provided”, as if a pair of nylon trousers is going to be the deal clincher.
Tipperdipper1:
Start within 12 hours from assessment/interview.
I’ve had numerous interviews where I’ve only been asked two questions.
-
Have you got a licence?
-
Can you start now?
It’s garbage, simple as that. JR run out of Northwich (near me) and pay peanuts.
The quoted wages do indeed include night out money, and after all the singing & dancing it works out at around £11.50 per hour. For working weekends, bank hols etc. Absolute turd.
To put it into perspective, I am now working for a local (largish) outfit that are quite average payers, and I’m doing 4 on 4 off for £13.00 per hour. Anyone in my opinion who is happy doing a 12 hour plus shift on a Sunday for £11.50 per hour needs their bloody head feeling
Winseer:
Is it legal to do 3x15 hour shifts at the end of week one, and then start week two with 3x15 hour shifts…
A rather nasty looking 90 hour fortnight, and looking totally legal at face value.

You have 3 reduced rests available between weekly rests, so basically any weekly rest of 24 or more hours will reset the 3 reduced.
You can also do a split rest every day if you had at least 3 hours of uninterrupted rest during the shift
But why would anybody want to work a 15 hour day even once, let alone six times on the trot?
This is a job for eastern Europeans and I guess the reason they are advertising here is that their regular supply of third-world mugs is drying up.
