When does this law start,
No set date yet, early 2015 is the only indication.
When I’m not following Tescos.
They may as well introduce the change on the 10th as there’ll be no amateurs left then.

sarcasm as most RM drivers etc use them as motorways along with the limits
good idea -50 miles at single carrigway.less traffic, congestion.but in narrow ,bad road 40 to many .drivers must think before.any way to many drivers ready do 45-50.

This argument always crops up but there really is virtually no driver that drives to the speed limit on every road. This country is absolutely covered with single track country lanes that are national speed limit and no-one is instantly crashing on the first corner by trying to drive down them at 60mph.
It doesn’t matter to me what they change the limit to I’II just carrying on driving at what I feel is a safe speed to make good progress based on the prevailing conditions and surroundings at the time.
too soon

This ^^
There are plenty of A roads that I would be happy trotting along at 50 on but there are also plenty enough that see me dropping down to 30 if I feel the need.
I don’t care about the limit change, I’ll just carry on as I feel fit.
I was in my van following a tipper t’other day, he/she was doing 60 consistently. How do you get away with that 1 then? . Was on an A road coming back from Carlisle to Newcastle.

Because tipper.
They do the same on the A65 out of the quarries, flat out from Settle to Skipton, and that’s a ■■■■■■■ twisty road on that stretch. Not seeing problem myself if you can see what’s coming the other way, may as well use all the road if it’s available to you. I do the same. You can always tell the “motorway truckers” as they’re the ones that do about 30mph, touching the brakes on every bend and ondulation instead of keeping their toe in.
it won’t matter what the government set the speed limit at , the tree huggers that run the local/county councils will impose lower limits " in the interest of safety " along with the usual scameras , also in the interest of safety .
I find its much less stressful on the limiter on a lot of A roads, the A1 north of Morpeth is a nightmare doing 40 where as at 56-58 the cars will happily sit behind you until a dual section rather than going for suicidal overtakes.

Paid by the load don’t ya know?
If you’re on hourly pay why would you want to do 50? All you’re doing is taking money out of your own pocket.

Then you just take longer opening curtains, strapping/unstrapping etc.
Just needs a bit of thought.

You would only need to hang the job out if your on a pathetic hourly rate
I’m hourly paid. But some days I just want to get home.
