been looking at some of the better paying jobs and wondering if anyone had any experience of any of these…
the Co-op RDC in Newhouse - 31k a year, shifts stated as 5 over 7, 10hr days
Nisa(DHL) in Livingston - 30ish k a year, not sure of the hours
Royal Mail - not sure of weekly hours but their drivers are on £15.■■ an hour so will be close to 30k, also seems to be really hard to get started with them
Tesco RDC in Livingston - don’t know what they pay but I’d imagine it’ll be around the same as the Co-op?
I work for Nisa at another depot.
Been there over 8 years, decent job…can be hard work til you get your head round it but no nights out or Sunday working makes it worthwhile.
Not sure what the sift pattern is at Livingston but we work…
4 week rota-
Week one- tues weds sun off
Week two - thurs fri sun off
Week three - sat sun off
Week four - mon sun off
As you can see the shift pattern is very good, week one and two are 4 day weeks.
Week three you’re getting Sat,Sun then Monday(of week 4) off.
For 30k+ on salary you’d struggle to find such a good working pattern, also the opportunity to work extra shifts on your days off for an extra £140 after tax ect.
I would recommend it to anyone.
It’s all salary so overtime is set at approx £140 after tax per shift whether you do 8hrs or 12hrs it’s the same which obviously if you do 9hrs for £140 extra in your pay packet is a fair pay.
I prefer the salary system because you know you will take X amount of ££s per month regardless if whether you only do 30-40hrs a week in the 4 day weeks.
As for recruitment at our depot we take agency on temp-perm so id ring livingston direct and ask them how to get on.
when applying for some of these better jobs, how important is route knowledge? Is it usually part of the driving assessment?
I admit mine is poor.
basically - should I be honest about that or blag it a bit?!
ckm1981:
Get a job on our place if you want 30k a year driving a class 2,no nights out.
the livingston depot couldn’t be much closer to my house!
as above I’m slightly concerned about the whole finding places thing - although class2 isn’t quite as bad when trying to find places, unless it’s a monster rigid that takes more room to turn than an artic!

Get a trucknav and if you have google maps with streetview use it to find exactly where the place is so you don’t miss it.
this is what I do - well, I don’t have trucknav but I use the navigation part of Google maps on my phone
the problem is when someone’s giving you directions and you have no idea what road/lights/pub/garage/any other landmark they’re on about!
I’d like to think the supermarket/store delivery jobs (which seem to be the best paying jobs) all have accurate locations but probably not always the case

From day 1 (9 years ago) I’ve just used a normal sat nav and I’ve done ok,the Adressess supplied are always accurate tbh.
And new starters tend to be given an area and kept in that area for a month or so and then moved in to another area and so on.
There’s a bloke on here knows all about T at livi & he wouldn’t recommend it. Can’t think of his name. T were one of the first to cut the 8 hour minimum on agency when lads were on their knees so ■■■■ them.

Tesco risk assessments are zb, directions poorly written out, very vague/look nothing like the place you’re going to & the staff do wtf they want.
