Pimpdaddy:
Tesco risk assessments are zb, directions poorly written out, very vague/look nothing like the place you’re going to & the staff do wtf they want.
Whoever does their risk assessments mustn’t have driven an artic before. Biggest problem is the home delivery vans parked in the yards at night making life more difficult than it needs to be (trailer tyres take some serious stick spinning around & your tail is missing them by inches)… tell them where the vans would be better parked and you just get “the risk assessment says we can park them there”

We have the same issue in our place, new stores get assessed by our assessor who is a class 2 driver and he puts it down as artic accessible even though he has never driven one.
We deliver to mostly convience stores on housing estates.
Tescos risk assessments never account for the fact the yards are invariably full of cardboard in cages, barely letting you back onto the bay from the customer car park outside.
London drop and pick ups are a complete pain in the arse, especially in the wind, rain, and snow.
I’ve yet to see someone else picking up cardboard. Maybe it’s only SNodland that does it.
(and only me that still does it for Snodland?)
Thurrock curtainsiders just drop their ambient stuff, and despite having loads of room, leave emtpy, after taking a break in the service road, and all.
I must be on the wrong contract here. This curtainsider lark seems to be a doddle compared to all the bull sliding block puzzle stuff we’ve got to do at Snodland when doing a London triple-hitter.
I hate doing dustcart duty. I hate attending the nobbies RSU - or anothing else with nobs on come to that.

Far as i’m aware the curtain siders with the ambient stuff only pick up empty cages, not the crap.
And that break you think they are having on the service road, will in fact be an “i’m held up at the store” skive because the tracker still shows them at the store. Tricks of the trade…

How many drops/ mileage per day on average ?
9-15 drops per day
Mileage wise not that many, all drops are normally writhing a 30 mile radius of your first.
You can go Birmingham do 15 drops and cover less than 150 miles in a day,but I’m guessing Livingston depot would do more mileage as drops would be more spread out in villages ect.

The ambient side is a doddle, collect 2 sider cages, pallets and high value boxes, that’s it.
Gotta play the game to skive, no point rushing about
Royal Mail - £27,957.96 for a basic 36.25 hour week. (Not paid for meal relief)
The duty set’s have different amounts of o/t built into them and are picked on seniority.
Each office’s duty pattern is different and dependant upon Union/management negotiation.
daffyd:
I take it meal relief is your 45min break ?
gotta be one of the best paying/most secure driving jobs out there
That’s right, I started many years ago as a postman.
For the first time in years they are taking applications from Agency after going through the usual in house system.
