This week my mate was first on the scene of a fatal accident, a lorry hit another vehicle up the arse throwing the driver out of it. It all unfolded in front off my friend witnessing everything, he called 999 and it took 28 minutes for the emergency services to arrive even though the accident was on a major trunk route.
In fact he called the 999 3 times in the end throwing a load of zb’s into them as he watched a man die laid at the side off the road.
I think this is an absolute disgrace and hopefully it will all come out at the inquest.
Brings it home how badly it can all go horribly wrong at any time.
To be fair to the emergency services, I don’t think 28 minutes is that bad a response time, I appreciate that’s no solace to the chap in distress & your mate but time can slow down when you’re stressed which may have made it seem longer at the time.

If people drove properly in the first place these horrible accidents would not happen.
Are you for ■■■■■■ real ? Someone tells of a horrible scenario where someone dies and all you can say is the above ? What a lovely human being you are. Is it cold up there on your high horse on the moral high ground. ■■■■ sake have a think about it.
It is horrible that someone has died, and for all the people on scene this will be something they will never forget. RIP to the person who died.
28 minutes can seem a lifetime in circumstances like that. Difficult to criticise the emergency services without knowing which road it was on and at what time of day.
Unfortunately there are not enough Ambulances, paramedic, police, or fire vehicles let alone staff to man them to be in easy access of every mile of our road network.
It is a frightening thought that help is that far away.

Albion, you really are a disgrace to the human race. You don’t know the circumstances as to what happened, so do everyone a favour and keep off the keyboard…MORON.
The ambulance service has a requirement to attend grade 1 calls within 8 minutes. This is the reason the paramedic bikes and fast response cars were introduced…as long as they are on scene within 8 minutes the job is classified as successful regardless of the patient outcome.
28 minutes is shambolic and should be investigated thoroughly.

Sorry you are wrong and I am not a disgrace to anyone.
Please tell me why you have a problem with me because I want drivers to drive safely?
You see them everyday driving like lunatics and they are usually the ones that cause the bad accidents.
I have every sympathy for any road victim and their relatives but I have absolutely no sympathy for bad drivers.

You just can’t help yourself, can you?
No I can’t because it really gets to me when innocent people are badly injured or killed by some irresponsible driver.
One of my best mates was killed by one.Car turned in front of him on his bike. The driver in question was talking on a phone.
The thing is people dismiss first aid training for HGV drivers which could of changed the out come yes they took to long but do any of us know what the trafic was like or were the closes ambulance was even if your not first aid trained just to hold there hand while they die is something
Depends where it is somewhere like beatock for example? 28 minutes might be good. In other areas they might have 4-5 ambulances covering a area but those ambulances are all on callouts so they need to out source from a further away area.
There will be a reason i don’t see them sitting having a ■■■ listening to a callout on the radio saying awe we’ll give that one another 5 minutes.
When i had my accident a couple of year ago on the M80 soon as i told the women i was driving a artic the police where there within 5 minutes. What ever the officer is dealing with they drop it to attend you.
you can pop down my local A&E anytime and u’ll see 3 or 4 ambulances parked up.
Its not like doing a trailer change … drop an swap …
its arrive with patient.
book in patient
hand over patient (when staff are available)
clean down trolley
swap blankets sheets etc
replenish equipment used if required
wash / clean down rear of ambulance
complete all job sheets and paperwork.
hmm all takes time and has to be done after every call …
in some country’s the ambulance service is part of the fire department so you could end up with a fire appliance arriving before an ambulance or even a police car where more and more cops are training up to be EMT’s
also like albion driving standards today have gone right down hill. people are taught to pass a test not how to drive you cant slag someone off for his point of view… its a sorry event that it took too long for the ambulance to arrive or any other emergency response. take into account the accident on the m5 with the fireworks, how many calls were delayed due to the amount of resources thrown at that ■■

But that’s the problem, ambulance crew being able to hand over to hospital staff, in York last month it was reported that the ambulance crews were having to wait with patience for upto 2 hours to hand over, it’s like a live tip at Morrisons!
