I have a 1500 watt inverter & use a Russell Hobs travel kettle. Been using this set up for years. Am now on my 2nd kettle the 1st died after around 3 years had the new 1 for about 2 years now. Regularly give it a clean out with pouch things that get rid of scale build up. I tramp all over Europe (well mainly France & Benelux these days) So I use the kettle 4/5 times a day boils 2/3 mugfulls in minutes

I’ve now discovered a way to cook outside while inside! It’s amazing!

Thats the one i have, the gas canisters last a good while and it just goes into a plastic case afterwards. I always release the canister from the valve after use and keep it in the outside locker next to the fridge rather than the cab.
Exactly, the only way they are a danger overnight is if you leave the cannister connected
Mine won’t allow you the flip over the hob plate if the cannister is still connected so you can’t store it back in its carry case till you have disconnected it. Its a release switch near the temperature dial thing.
Superscaniav8, have the same. 1500w inverter wired into tail lift Anderson connector, 1kw travel kettle and works fine. Kettle is boiling before I have finished putting coffee, sugar and milk in my cup.

I have a 3kw invertor and a swan 1kw kettle and that take no time at all either
I also have a 3kw inverter, just need to get it wired in.

Is it legal/normal/safe to drive with a gas bottle in the cab? I don’t mean like a big 15kg calour gas bottle, more the 908 campinggaz bottles.
so, if this was true, what about the caravans and motorhomes that have larger gas bottles?
Fair point
No , they are fixed in an outside locker with holes in the floor for gas too escape through if it leaks, not allowed anywhere else, to bloody dangerous.
I hope you drivers aren’t using these tools whilst on bed rest, as that could be construed as working whilst taking a break, therefore committing tacho fraud.
Bollox ^^^^ . Keep your beak out you fantasist.

Don’t take my word for it; next time you’re pulled in for a routine check, ask the attending officer what their take on this matter is.
We once caught an Eastern European driver using a twin head polisher plugged into the inverted polishing the side of his diesel tank! The DVSA take a very dim few of any driver using such tools whilst using the rest mode. Polishing ones truck or using the inverter could be seen as other work by some officers and fines are available for these drivers who flaunt the rules.
David
I’ll give you an answer to that David as you seem at first glance to be more reasonable in your language than the blithering idiot I addressed the comment to; this could be true or it could be an urban myth, make your own mind up; a driver was seen polishing his lorry at Watford gap services, two VOSA guys approached him and asked to look at his tacho, obviously it was on break. Long story short, the driver opted to go down the court appearance route and claimed in court that he suffered very badly from OCD and simply could not relax like normal people and found cleaning to be therapeutic which in turn made him very relaxed and refreshed when returning to the road. Result, case dismissed.

Utter ■■■■■■■■. I’ll believe you as soon as drivers will get prosecuted for taking a break or daily rest in a layby or MSA.
“Free to dispose of their time”.
Not in a layby after a 14.5 hour day…
