2013 Vehicle Rallys

don,t forget good old flookburgh steam gathering, flookburgh, ■■■■■■■■ sat & sun 27th & 28th july 2013.book online before 17th july get £2 off just a tenner a day.loads of trucks,steam,music,noise ,stalls,demo,s etc.

I expected the Daresbury Steam Festival to be mostly about the glory days of steam but with a bit of commercial interest thrown in. Unfortunately even the steam contingent failed to turn out in any respectable numbers and out of the few lorries on show, most have been seen before by Trucknet members.
Having said that, it was a very pleasant afternoon in the hot Cheshire sun with a wealth of old cars to look at plus a few motorcycles, agricultural vehicles and the usual stationary power packs.
I enjoyed it but I don’t know if I’ll go next year, especially as the pocket was hit to the tune of £8,00!
Here’s an unusual livery from the time when Manchester printed a northern version of the Daily Mirror.

I have found this invite in my inbox today. I shall be there in spirit to support my local race circuit.

We are delighted to bring about the return of the popular Classic Commercial Show at Donington Park.
Saturday 2nd November 2013.

Dave the Renegade:
Much Marcle next weekend 20th-21st.

You will be getting dangerously close to my home turf there, Dave.
Last time I went to Marcle almost all the exhibits were steam powered but I expect that has changed over the years. Mind you, I think that was about 40 years ago when I was still fairly young!
I’d appreciate it if you can get your lovely cameraperson to do her thing- it would be interesting to see if I recognise any of the vehicles or liveries.

We have never actually been to the event Casey. I expect we shall give it a miss if its still as hot as it has been the last few days. We will see what its like on Sunday and the decide, its not far to go from here.
Cheers Dave.

Don’t worry about the heat, mate- you’ll be right next to Weston’s cider factory if you need some coolant!

Ducklington steam and vintage show was on today and is on tomorrow; Not sure “steam” should be in the title as there were only about 6 proper ones there. Loads of those of those “phut phut phut” engines that pump a flask of water around (I ignored these and so did most people). Not many heavy commercials there but a few nice Bedfords. Some rubbish sealed knot type American civil war display and a few junk merchants. I was relieved of £10 for the privilege of less than 2 hours trying to avoid sheep ■■■ and wannabe traction engine owners with those miniature steamers.
