In case you missed it Scania launched a new truck 6 months or so ago.
Errr… no… the plastic revamp of the R series you call a new truck ? Its more of a measured upgrade than a ground-up overhaul would you not agree?

Interested to see the handbrake being pulled on this one…
If anyone get’s a demo can they stick a video up?
Now THAT! I like.

Looks like an ERF ECX Olympic from the side, feel a bit underwhelmed about it to be honest.
Not sure on the frontal area too as it looks like a big open mouth.I thought exactly the same thing… not a good move for Volvo imo… can’t see too many operators wanting it. Its Ugly on the outisde… Cheap looking on the Inside… definite marks of the Olympic /Stralis / Pegaso Troner… in fact it looks as if Volvo have taken a bit of every truck out there and mashed it together… and then put that stupid badge on the front to say Volvo… much preferred it when it was in disguise, looked better!
all the details you need are here:
volvotrucks.com/trucks/uk-ma … vo-fh.aspx
will be interesting this time next year to see how many have sold…
Much prefer the MP4
Is there a New Scania model on the horizon ?
thanks for link, just had a good look round the website.
i think overall its a great truck, with some nice features, think the interior is spot on, and like the idea of the nightime cabcool system. i still can’t get my head round the exterior though, side view is fine, but front on, think it looks tacky.
i think the reason for this is the cheap and nasty look it appears to have because of the grill, and the areas both under and above the screen. also, is it jst me that thinks the roof spots look daft?
on volvos website, you can play around with exterior colours, i tried it in black, so as to kind of colour code it with the grill and other areas mentioned, and it looked much, much better if the truck appeared to be all as one colour.
Does nothing for me.

You mean it looked much better when you disguised that monstrosity of a grill by having the cab the same colour?
It’s an iveco isn’t it!!! Awful awful and what’s this button handbrake all about!!! Another 10 years and there won’t even be a steering wheel in front of you.

Do Scania use the same designers as porche?

It’s not a button? The space above it would suggest that you put your hand or fingers in to pull it out or something I guess.
A couple more Volvo promo vids

can’t decide if it looks better or worse with the bling silver grille on the fh16…
also, I think the colour choice for the fabrics and plastics in the cabin (beige/light grey?) isn’t the best idea!

youtu.be/PBbSCig6Xl4 Dunno if this was posted but…
It looks like the old one…and the interior shot looks like it could be the interior of a Kia or a Nissan.
It’s naff.

It looks similar handbrake you get in a range rover or merc, you just pull it up and hold it and the handbrake comes on. In a car this type of handbrake goes off automatically when you start driving, don’t know about it on a truck though!!!
The whole thing is a massive let down, I think they try and do too much these days personally.
It is a bit mad looking, like a highcab Hino .Being a Volvo it will be a good truck though,it has been roadtested alot more than the MP4 judging by the amount of spyshot’s on here. Will Merc fall down on this…probably
.A friend had an 1851 MP4 for 3 day’s and he thought his MP2 1846 was every bit as fast and the quoted mpg figuire’s where not realised either. Now Volvo bring out this quare looking FH so what’s left. It look’s like Scania are the only one’s who haven’t joind the school of stupid unthought design, they pull well enough are adblue free and hold there value.Am i losing my marble’s here or are they the best if only because they have been conservative in design and technology

Never been a big scania fan really, but right now they have to be one of the best looking trucks on the road right now. The Mercedes looked good when they first came out, with its giga space cab and everything colour coded. But when you see it in its basic fleet form, it looks hideous IMO. I think the Volvo is going to be the same. Scanias seem to look the part whatever version you see on the road. But then I suppose it’s not all about looks.
my mrs has got a nice volvo

i care how my car looks, feels and performs. a truck is just a tool to do a job. i would be happy to sit in it and have everything working for me so i can do my job and scania fall short on that no matter what application they are being used for
as for how the new FH looks. i just think top half of an XF welded onto the bottom half of the old FH. its just as bland as the model it replaced so heres hoping the improvments are on the inside where they matter to a driver
