2 no seat belt fines in less than an hour!

yes i know that mate but thay still have to prove you have traveled more than 50 meters. like i said i told them was looking for a stand pipe, multi drop is not always defind as shop or house deliveries and a stand pipe wont have an address

dew:
If your on Multidrop deliveries then I’m 99% sure you can be exempt from wearing one

No one is exempt wearing a seatbelt, even on multidrop! MMTM   :sunglasses: :grimacing:

It is a tanker so maybe the stand pipe idea may stand up, and a big thanks to the holier than thou brigade, but as I said yes I should’ve been wearing it.
No fears about gross misconduct, wouldn’t bother our lot if u were sitting on the roof with rope on the wheel as long as the job gets done!

merc0447:
There is a seatbelt camera? You lot on the windup?

" A change in the law came into force on the 1st March 2005 ago stating that people making deliveries and who travel for more than 50 metres between stops now have to wear seat belts. This applies to all drivers and passengers on public roads."

Easily found on the interweb if you really want to search for it.

Public highway! :unamused: stand and deliver!! :grimacing: :grimacing:so you can’t crash in 50 metres■■? :bulb:

It’s a rule that really gets on my nerves. I quite often don’t wear mine at work, and it should be the choice of the wearer. I’ve heard all the ■■■■■■■■ about saving lives, but surely the only life at risk is the person who is/isn’t wearing it.

The law sticking it’s nose in where it really doesn’t need to.

Fine, but what about the emergency services that have to peel the splattered dead body off the tarmac after the driver has gone through the windscreen and the children and relatives, not to mention the person who may have caused the accident (accidents happen) that have to live with a death that could have been avoided just through the 2 second task of clipping in a seatbelt.

The resistance towards wearing them baffles me completly, i forget i have it on from the moment the buckle clicks.

Personal attack removed.

Strathclydes Police seem to be targeting truckers alot just now for not wearing seatbelts in Glasgow. £60 fine. Just a warning to anyone in the area.

Dont worry about it,It’ll never happen to you. :unamused:

It happens too quick though unfortunately in REAL LIFE and before you know it you’re sliding down the road at 50 mph on your side and when you finally come to a standstill after what seems like minutes of uncertainty about your fate,if you’re not dead or seriously injured already, then at least you’ll be glad you put your seatbelt on before you set off,you certainly wont go without one again.

Admit it, but tell them you were reversing at the time :stuck_out_tongue:

Or seriously tell them you had damaged it in the door, you went to the dealers to get a new one and it was on back order so you had to go back to the yard to get another motor.

2 seconds to click in a seatbelt or the possibility of spending the rest of your life in a wheelchair, with wife/kids/partners having to look after your every need…£60 fine not enough really!

…especially when you also consider the cost to the NHS of having to treat you for serious stuff that could so easily have been avoided…

It didn’t help Jimmy Saville did it?

He spent most of his life in Stoke Mandeville and Jimmys, and he was best remembered for Seat Belts :stuck_out_tongue:

seeing as there is a fair bit of criticism, can you all truthfully say youve never driven the wagon without wearing it?

i’ll admit that i don’t, i find them pretty dangerous at roundabouts.

Surely everyone will agree with that. Every time a lorry driver sets off without his seatbelt on then taps his brakes, He just pops through the windscreen. Yep, You see it every day.
oh look, there goes another one. they’re like lemmings round here.
