He said: “The driver should have known the lorry was too high. He might have had a better chance in the middle of the road. This kind of thing does happen now and then.”
We were talking about the height on the trailer. Inside it says 15ft 9ins. I said ‘this is not 15ft 9ins’.
We thought it was smaller than what it was, but I never checked
God I’d hate to make that phone call
That’s an old one covered here ages ago, the passenger was an assessor by the way and the trailer would have been 15’ 4" not that would have made any difference.
Hiya…i saw where a chap who lost sight in one eye had his licence taken away. I’d bet a weeks wages he would’nt
have made such a stupid mistake as this chap.

Can happen, there is a well known Peak District bridge on an A road that is over a foot higher on one side of the road than the warning sign states. You just need to know which side it is though!!! Does seem to be a lot of bridge strikes these day though, is it that trucks are higher or driver’s are denser?
Well last year I did put a 15’ 9 trl under a 15’ bridge it was fine did come out a different way though
Did stop before I went under bridge ( btw this was not marked until 1/4 mile before bridge which is in Cardiff )
Did drop the suspension & went through the middle with some help thanks to the 2 police officers who were most helpful & though nowt of it as if it happened regularly & no waay to turn round or reverse back
