15'9 Trl under a 14'9 bridge

Delivery man tries to squeeze his lorry under a low bridge in Blackburn | Lancashire Telegraph Sorry if it’s been posted. Loved this quote though

We were talking about the height on the trailer. Inside it says 15ft 9ins. I said ‘this is not 15ft 9ins’.

We thought it was smaller than what it was, but I never checked

God I’d hate to make that phone call :frowning:

He was delivering Red Bull… Belter!

Perhaps he thought he’d got wings so he could fly over the bridge.

Twenty years experience and he makes a mistake like that?? ‘I thought it was lower but didn’t check’.

■■■■ me! Some people are too thick to be let out of a padded room!

Well, it certainly is now.

How an earth did he think that 15ft 9in is smaller than 14ft 9in ?

I guess there is a vacancy at Culina, …

Here’s another. :open_mouth:

N i was bricking it putting a 14.9 trailer under a 14,9 bridge

Is this guy real?

He said: “The driver should have known the lorry was too high. He might have had a better chance in the middle of the road. This kind of thing does happen now and then.”

That’s an old one covered here ages ago, the passenger was an assessor by the way and the trailer would have been 15’ 4" not that would have made any difference.

 Just noticed the date on that story

Hiya…i saw where a chap who lost sight in one eye had his licence taken away. I’d bet a weeks wages he would’nt
have made such a stupid mistake as this chap.

Not to worry, was worth the thread just to see the picture of the reporter, she’s fit as ■■■■!

“The vehicle went sideways and it nearly tipped over. I was not thinking much…

Can happen, there is a well known Peak District bridge on an A road that is over a foot higher on one side of the road than the warning sign states. You just need to know which side it is though!!! Does seem to be a lot of bridge strikes these day though, is it that trucks are higher or driver’s are denser?

Pete.

It’s drivers like this plonker that give us drivers a bad name.

And there was 2 of them that day. :unamused:

Well last year I did put a 15’ 9 trl under a 15’ bridge it was fine did come out a different way though

Did stop before I went under bridge ( btw this was not marked until 1/4 mile before bridge which is in Cardiff )

Did drop the suspension & went through the middle with some help thanks to the 2 police officers who were most helpful & though nowt of it as if it happened regularly & no waay to turn round or reverse back
