most inverter over 120watts need to be wired to the battery to get the full wattage, if you use a 600watt inverter though the cig lighter socket you only get about 150 watts some come with crock clips as an extra in the box so you can hook up to the battery and it usually says it on the box as well

For the boy & girls who have found a 240v biased TV that runs directly on 12v by chopping the lead
it would be interesting for the rest of us if youd take the time to note the make & model number of the set you have, and post it on here as it might help those looking for somthing similar, however old the set is that you
ve got, as makers tend to keep to the same basic internal design even when they make new models
Id love a tv in my wagon prices on ebay are a bit steep though plus i dont even think id be allowed

I think most of the ones which run on an external power brick, rather than the mains lead going directly into the unit, run on 12V DC, that’s my experience of them anyway.
I have a Little 9" freeview tv, the aerial is a normal house one that I put in a fishing rod holder that is fixed to the mirror arm, this works a treat, nearlly always get 100s of chanells. Just take it down at the end of the night and it fits lovelly next to the passenger seat.
Is a big tv really required■■?
Maplins is normally the place to go for this sort of thing.

Got a good chance you will find someone who knows what he/she is talking about too.
when you look at a flat screen to buy look at the 240 volt power lead, if it has a power pack on it, it will tell you the input and output voltages on it, most flat screens are 12 volt output. i got a technika tv, dvd, freeview from tesco and bought a power lead straight from cigge lighter to tv.
as for fixing to the cardboard type wall i put a peice of plywood behind wall and fixed bracket through wall to that with little nuts and bolts.

So what do you use insted ?
all lcd tv’s are 12 volt, dont pay rip off truckstop prices, you just need to make a lead from cigar lighter to tv,

I use one similar to that running to a £9 digi box connected to the screen for my reversing camera works fine , amusing when you roll onto a weighbridge in a quarry and they ask “Reversing camera work drive” then turning it on and theres This Morning or something else on the screen
