How would you know the clock was wrong? You wouldnât be able to read it because of the glare from your undergarments.

Heâs maybe a bit miffed about the off topic nature of the thread now, I know he doesnât like that. Itâs OK though as I had a word with the Mod of this forum and he sees no problem.

Hello,i have another question relating to 10 hour days going from one week to another-I did shift last sunday driving from near glasgow to portsmouth which took 9hours 28minutes-i started shift at 12.00 sunday and arrived at portsmouth at 23.10(missing ferry by 10min!)where i started first part of daily rest (which i was splitting once on ferry crossing)of 8hours 45minutes.
I then do a movement onto ferry next morning of about 8minutes driving time and then have another 6hours rest on boat to france.
Does the fact that the 8 minutes movement which took place on the monday morning which was attached to sundays 9hour extended shift mean i have used 1 of my 10 hour days for my new fixed week starting monday or do i still have 2 10 hour driving days still available to me for my new fixed week starting monday??
As the START of the extended driving period was on the Sunday then I would say the 8 mins belongs to the â10 hour drivingâ on Sunday but I stand to be corrected

hi mate i would say its part of your rest and as no barring on the 10 hour rule, you are allowed to do two movements totalling one one hour as long as you ad the movements to the rest and as you did have a lot more then you need to cover the movement that 8 mins would not be part of you driving time for Sunday well that how i see it
delboytwo:

Any driving time during the 8 minutes is indeed driving time for daily, weekly and fortnightly limits. For instance if you arrived at the dock right on the limit of your driving time, 9/10 hours, then you would not be able to drive on the boat.

so even though he on a daily rest which started at 23.10 then went in to Monday at 8hours 45minutes. in to mon that 8 mins driving would be is Sunday drive time not Monday
I would say you count the 8 minutes movement on Monday. You did 9.28 driving and parked up in the lanes at 11.10 on Sunday night. You have split your rest period for 8 minutes on Monday morning (quite legally) to board a ferry. so from 23.10 until the time you are called forward to board is rest, as is the time on-board the ship as you have got access to a bunk.
You are allowed 2 movements, on and off the ferry. The 8 minutes work has to be added to resting time, with a long crossing such as this it wouldnât be an issue. That means when you reach France you can drive straight out of the dock.

The Monday shift wonât start until he drives off the ferry, so it isnât part of Monday. Itâs all part of Sunday. If you do more than about 12.5 hours travelling to the port you wouldnât be able to make the movements because the time from starting work to beginning the first part of the rest, the two movements and 11 hours rest must all fit into the 24-hour period which began when you started work on that day. The fact you are allowed to split the rest doesnât remove other rest requirements, such as the 24-hour period thing, so the days work plus the two movements must not total more then 13 hours and the movements are therefore part of the first day.

Ooh!
So Sundays driving shift would be now 9h 36 and driver must be tucked up before 01.00
Thanks for that. I feel suitably admonished sir

would that not make the 8 mins movement illegal as he gone over the 15 hour duty
so what your saying is that you must be at the docks with time to spare for any movements and in fact it must be an hour at least and you only do a 13 hour duty day including the movements
